The TOPS Tanimboca Puukko combines classic Scandinavian Pukku knife style with a tough Goran Mihajlovic design. Goran owns a nature reserve in the Amazon jungles of Colombia and built this knife to withstand one of the most difficult environments in the world. He prefers Puukko knives for their simple design, versatility, and extreme toughness. The Tanimboca combines the best elements of Pukkos with a solid, durable TOPS build.
Features:I’ve been carrying the TOPS Tanimboca Puukko for a little over a year now and to say that I am impressed with this knife is a severe understatement. I am amazed with this knife. I rave about it to anyone that will listen to me. The neutrality of the handle is perfect; it is comfortable to hold in any grip and the micarta stays grippy when my hands get wet. The size is just right; that sweet spot that allows it to be a champion of all camp tasks. It carves intricately, slices through hides like a razor, and can still baton through small sections of firewood. The leather sheath is quality and you don’t see that enough from manufacturers. The 1095 steel performs wonderfully and is easy to maintain in the field. I usually just strop it using my belt and honing paste. I’ve only had to sharpen it a handful of times after I’ve damaged the blade being careless. The grind on mine has become a sort of “scandi-vex” over time and I feel like it is performing better than ever. The spine is great at shaving down wood and striking a ferro rod. I’ve even used it with a piece of chert to start a percussion fire. In my eyes, this knife truly shines in crafting. I love using this knife to make bow drill sets. The integrated socket in the handle works wonderfully and saves me time putting the set together. I’ve used this knife to carve deadfalls, whistles, spoons, bowls, tent stakes, pot hangers, frog gigs, fishing poles, and so much more. If I’m ever in the woods, this puukko is with me. I love this knife. If I could only have one knife for the rest of my life, this would be the one.
When I first held this pukko, I heard the horns of Valhalla sounding off, then Valkyries rode down on winged horses as some badass heavy metal blasted. I could not put it down once I started using it. Its like the all knowing Odin designed it himself. Skol
TOPS makes some of my favorite blades. The Tanimboca Puukko ranks one of my top favorites. This is a multi purpose knife. It's a fantastic EDC knife and outdoor knife. It's not a tactical knife. Though I'm sure in a pinch it could be used to dispatch a critter but there is no choil on the Tanimboca Puukko. It's very well made. Typical TOPS quality. Also the leather sheath is really nice. One thing I like is a knife make that includes a quality sheath especially if it's leather. The Puukko sheath is double stitched and it's a thicker leather not some thin cheap faux leather. Well done. This is a knife that begs to be in the wilderness but still makes a practical EDC blade surprisingly. It's not too big to run paracord through the belt loop to use as a neck knife. Absolute winner. Also big thanks to Blade HQ. I paid $99 and got the free shipping option and it was at my door in 3 days. Thanks again BHQ
