Features:The WE Knife Company’s new Gnar blade designed by Matthew Degnan is a little jewel. It is constructed with a 3D machined bronze titanium handle and is ergo sound. The satin finished drop point flat grind blade is a beauty. The blade opens smoothly with a thumb stud and locks up solid with a titanium frame lock. There were three qualities drawing me to the knife. First, I appreciate the excellence of the work being produced by the We knife Co. Second, I find the design language of Matthew Degnan to be compelling, and last, most of my assemblage being flippers, I wanted a good thumb stud knife to add to the collection. The knife, at 6.88” overall length, is small for my large hands but, I was surprised as to how comfortable it was when employing a pinch grip with thumb and index finger over the WE logo. This grip allowed for some delicate cutting. I purchased the knife to expand my collection. I am surprised at how much carry time the blade has received. I believe the design, the smooth, one-hand blade deployment, Ceramic bearings and a large thumb stud opener, along with an S35VN blade steel and a steel reinforced titanium lock bar make this handsome little knife a bargain at the asking price.
This knife will check a lot of boxes for many people-- though the blade stock and tip are beefy and capable of light prying, it is also laser-sharp with the thinnest secondary bevel I've seen on a WE knife. The snappy action is superb (reminds of the Kershaw Kai 2415 from the '90s), lockup is beautiful, and the ti slabs are indestructible if a bit heavy. My only complaint is the angular clip digs into the palm and could be a serious hotspot. But if you need a very legal-sized pocketknife that is both slicey and sturdy, this could be a perfect choice.
