WE Knife Co. has a new modern kitchen knife called the Yakula! This 8.5" knife has a blade made from CPM-S35VN with a satin finish. The distinct black and blue handle is made with carbon fiber and has a titanium bolster. Cutting with this elegant kitchen knife makes food prep simple and painless.
Features:I've had this knife for several months now, and bought this knife originally because I was looking for a high end upgrade for my lower end paring knives. I work as a cook professionally and cook a lot a home, and when this knife came up in the BladeHQ newsletter with carbon fiber, titanium bolster, s35vn, I had to get it. Materials like that perform and last beyond a lifetime. This knife is not cheap, but this is the most beautiful paring knife I have ever seen. Fit and finish is impeccable, came nice and sharp as always, very light weight due to razor thin blade stock and carbon fiber handle. That being said, this knife is not the same size or shape as a standard paring knife. It is more of a hybrid between a traditional paring knife and utility knife. I personally really enjoy this quality of the knife because it makes a great all around blade for precise cuts. You can use it like a regular paring knife for trimming fruits and veggies with your thumb, but the bigger size might take getting used to. I also use this knife for fileting small fish and cutting sashimi, because it is thin, sharp, and precise. The only feedback I have for WE is that they include some sort of case or sheath to store the knife in, along with a cleaning cloth and maybe some stickers like they do with all their other knives. This is just nitpicking, but they do this with almost all of their knives, and it's sort of something to be expected from a knife of this price.
