The Zero Tolerance 0566 is a Hinderer designed assisted opening folder. This knife is more compact than the larger 560/561. The blade is premium CPM-S35VN which offers excellent edge retention, strength, and toughness. This knife has a frame lock and a lockbar stabilizer.
Zero Tolerance Spring Assisted Knives have all the Zero Tolerance quality you expect with snappy spring-assisted opening action!
I was somewhat worried when I first got this knife! It seemed so stiff the blade wouldn't deploy without pain, but after 1 week of a little oil and technique I've got it down and now it's my new favorite ZT! Light enough for EDC feels good in the hand. This knife has been around for many years and there's a good reason for this. Al
Perfect heavy duty edc knife. I bought this knife to put away in my collection but after I got my hands on it I realized this was my new daily slicer. The extra thick s35 steel blade is perfect for my woodworking daily tasks. Liked it so much I ordered another one for a Christmas gift!
Well built and smooth action. Strong, solid and very sharp. First ZT I have bought....being retired and on a fixed budget keeps my purchases well thought out. The smooth opening makes it my EDC with these arthritic hands.
This knife awesome you can't go wrong with it. It has a fast smooth action, great lock-up and a great clip. Great investment blade. Continue to be impressed by ZT Blades, I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.
Everything is not perfect but it's pretty dang close. Impressive quality and steel choice at this price point. Blade is not perfectly centered, not the lighest and it's not the easiest to flip open or unlock but it's a gotta have knife. Stupid sharp right out the box and everything else is close to perfection. A 5 star knife, go for it.
This thing is built to be used. The assisted opening flings the blade out stupid fast and the thumb studs lock into the frame tight to give lateral strength for prying. Ergos, fit and finish, materials and blade centering are all excellent. Got this on an awesome sale too so i couldn't be happier.
This is what you expect from a Zero Tolerance. The feel of the knife is great. The assisted opening with the flipper is crisp and satisfying. Opening with the thumb knobs isn't practical but the serve to stabilize the blade against the frame when open. I love the S35VN blade but would like to see it a bit sharper out of the box. Maybe a tad heavy for an EDC for my taste, but I like the heft while using it. The frame lock is stiff and slightly tough to release. All in all, a wonderful knife.
It's a ZT...that's where this review should end. The action, edge, pocket clip, blade play, blade centering...PERFECT right out of the box. Hands down another win and great addition to the collection.
My first ZT and I love it. Sharp out of the box unlike some other brands I have purchased. Fit and finish is very nice and feels good in the hand. Assisted opening is very snappy. I will be back for more ZT knives.
Solid and sharp. Snaps open nicely. More compact than a 562 but similar and still feels good in the hand.
I’ve been looking at this for awhile and I finally decided to buy it. It really fits my personality and is a great functioning knife!
You really can't go wrong with this knife. It has fast, smooth action, tight lock-up, a great clip with a smooth draw, and a grippy, yet comfortable handle! Blade is awesome! I have owned the knife for a while now and I'm continually impressed with the Elmax steel. It also has a nice pointy tip that is also tough. This is the knife you should buy when you can't decide what knife to buy. It's a great all-rounder!
This was my first Zero Tolerance purhase. I own several kershaws and have always been more than happy with them. The 0566 is an excellent EDC knife. At about 7.6" in total length, its a great EDC size. I love the blade shape and s35vn steel. Holds and great edge and overall is a very versatile blade. The spring assisted flipper function is amazing. It deploys with speed and authority. Like all ZT knives, its built like a tank. It wont break or fail you. ZT is one of the few brands I will always trust. Its a knife you can buy without ever using it and know you are getting an excellent product.
Lock up like a safe, snaps out like a bullet. Great fit in the hands. Only complaint is maybe have some more choice of steels an blade shapes
This was my first ZT, and it is everything I’ve been wanting. The speed safe opening is smooth and the blade with the S35VN steel is amazing .
Built like a tank. Super sharp. Snappy action. Still a little stiff after about a year of use but I don’t mind that. Little heavy for some people
Great knife. I have tried both de-assisted as well as the speed safe. As said in the comments below if you do de-assist the knife it will flip like most Hinderer products and you will have to push down on the flipper tab to get a reliable flip. My only complaint is that I wish ZT would make the lock side out of titanium to reduce weight.
The 0566 is probably the most practical knife ZT has produced. The size is right for most states and it doesn't look very threatening. The torsion bar makes for a snappy action, but it's also ridiculously stiff. I had better luck removing the torsion bar and letting the detent keep the knife closed.
Great knife for edc! I have larger hands, and it feels great in hand. Also can’t beat made in the great USA!!!
I love this knife. I have large hands and it just feels right in my hands. The 3.25 inch blade is the sweet spot for edc in my opinion. First thing I did was disassemble and removed torsion bar and lubed with some gun oil. It de-assisted very well. Took about a night of flipping it to break it in well. It flips like a hinderer so you have to press the flipper down then in.. it flies out great with the thumb studs as well. This is a well made knife that is my new carry. The good news for the steel construction while it is a little heavier than titanium is it won't wear out near as quickly if ever. Also now it is made with American steel, s35vn. I wanted a knife completely made in USA with a good blade. If you are on the fence about it because of the weight remember you can always skeletonize it with a drill bit. I'm glad I went with this one instead of the 562.
Like the other review said, the action is pretty dang stiff at first but it doesn't take to long to break in. It fits perfectly in my hand and I even have larger hands. It's almost like it was made for me. locks up nice and tight, has good weight to it and so on. The only minor annoyance I had is in the G-10, compared to everything else I have with G-10 scales this G-10 isn't really that grippy, not bad enough to warrant a lower star review and not quite bad enough to bother with new scales... maybe... I haven't had it to long so we will see. I just wish the G-10 was a bit more rough and grippy.
I love this knife it is a very solid well built knife like all Hinderer ZT models. I have never been into spring assist but this one I love there is no rattle of the torsion bar and just enough tension to give a little extra snap when opening. The elmax blade came very sharp out of the box. This is my new edc I look forward to many years of satisfaction from this tool. Thank you Bladehq and Zero tolerance.
It was super sharp out of the box, great size for a edc, opens super quick and easy once you get past the breaking point. That is where the almost fits in, mine is extremely tight to that break over point. I watch TV with a pair of leather gloves on just opening and closing to get it loosened up.
Awesome knife with snappy assisted action. I’ll be reading up on de-assisting it as I don’t really care for the resistance upon closing. Everything else about this knife is awesome! From the G-10 pocket side to the titanium clip side, this knife is top notch ZT quality at a great price!
Fit and finish is fantastic. From what I've seen ZTs's quality control is one of the best and even if there is a problem they will gladly take care of you with little to no questions asked. Blade was decently sharp out of the box but might not be up to some peoples standards. Blade centering was spot on. One complaint I have is that the lockbar is extremely stiff so it is somewhat difficult to close with one hand. If you hold the knife with your left hand and use your left thumb to pull the lockbar over it works fine but if you're right handed like me, my knife is extremely difficult to push over the lockbar with my right thumb to disengage the lock. It doesnt seem to be "lock stick" either, as I have tried both oil and graphite with little to no improvement. I really am nit picking though at this point and overall the quality, materials, and durability make this knife a pretty good value. Buy with confidence! Plus ZTs customer service is legendary, if you dont believe me look and see what people are saying about them on the forums.
Then get is zt model! Amazing quality with good materials. I'm not a huge fan of assisted, but man what a beast this knife is.
Got this a little while back and was not one knife I carried a lot but when I do carry it I normally use it very hard as it can stand up to it and still looks good when doing it
I am very impressed with the smaller 0566, much more edc friendly than the 0560/0561 the ergonomics are still just as good- just melts in your hand. The flipper is a bit stiff when you first get it- but it will break in eventually. Also, if you carry in the tip up position the pocket clip can press against the lock bar making it difficult to deploy- adjusting the pocket clip so it's not so tight helps- or carrying in the tip down orientation, then the pocket clip isn't resting on the lock bar. I haven't had much luck converting it to a manual flipper either, just doesn't flip very well without the assist- takes a lot of wrist action. So i just left it assisted and carry tip down- works perfectly.
I've read good things about ZT and wanted to add one to my small collection. The knife I received had a lock bar so tight with jimping so slippery that I couldn't engage it with my thumb--I had to hold it in my right hand and dig the fingertips of my left hand under the bar to close the knife. Nice size and great steel but I require one-handed operation so I returned it for a refund.
Good knife, solid, strong sharp, aesthetically pleasing. But for a price of $260 with assisted opening, and G10 is a little much. Sure you're getting S35VN but still...Their are a lot of great options out there for $260 and as for me this knife doesn't scratch that itch.
This knife resembles a smaller version of the 0562 which resemble a smaller version of the 0560/0561. This is a great knife for its size especially for a person who likes assisted knives. This knife is one where you have to learn to appreciate a rick hinderer design.
Couldn't wait to get this knife. Quality looks great. Unfortunately it is impossible to open with the thumb studs. So stiff it takes both hands to open it. That's the only complaint. Otherwise I would love it.
