This is a well made product. It fits my XL hands comfortably. It's lightweight which will make it an easy carry (have some disabilities that make some heavier or unbalanced tools difficult to handle). It's very sharp out of the box. The grip will need grip tape or tennis racket tape because it is a little on the slippery side.

At first I was going to buy expensive Micarta or G-10 replacements scales for it. however after handling it I felt that fancy grips would make me use it less or worry about keeping the grips clean. This product is a user, not a collection piece.

The sheath is pretty good, however if I could find a ballistic nylon replacement I would do so. It's not bad, it is functional but I've been spoiled by better ones.

I rate the Machax itself very highly. I presently own machetes from Ontario, Condor, Fiddleback, Martindale, Beatrix, Tramontina, etc. If I could keep only two it would be the Machax and the Fiddleback (too nice to use though). One thing I forgot to mention, I love shorter machetes the longest in my collection the Condor Barong goes over 20" but is to unbalanced to use safely with my condition.

I know that's not the majority opinion, but I have to feel comfortable with what I use, and the Machax despite it sub 10" blade gives me that level of comfort I need. I consider this more of a small machete than an axe. some say it's a large knife, that would also be a good way to describe it as well.
