Updates:

The Bounty Hunt has come to a close. We apprecite your participation, your patience, and all the feedback (both positive and negative). Congrats to those who won and condolences to those who will face familial reprecussions (I will be among you). Our hyperdrive had a few malfunctions so we’ll be tearing that apart to try and make things more bullet proof. Every sideways adventure is an oppotrunity for growth!

1) We were aware of an issue that sometimes prevented the puzzle from correctly solving. We believe this issue has now been fixed. "They told me they fixed it! I trusted them. It’s not my fault!"

2) The grid puzzle is located at the bottom of the page (a page revealed by the clue on the bounty hunter dashboard). If you think you’re on the right page then scroll down. If you are on the right page then you’ll see a puzzle grid. If you don’t see the puzzle grid you are not on the right page.

    3) You must slide the puzzle grid pieces to put them into the correct order. The bottom right piece is the one you’ll leave out. When the puzzle is in the correct order the missing piece will appear and you’ll receive a prize (bounty) code. If this doesn’t happen then the puzzle is not solved.

Axel Forkbane is back! This year he’ll be hunting down six of the galaxy’s finest sleazeballs, and he needs your help. The Blade HQ Bounty Hunt starts May the 4th @ 5pm MDT. You can check out details and start hunt prep at Bounty Outpost HQ. Additionally we’ll have resources available at our reddit outpost, The Blaster and Blade.

This is our official "How To Hunt" guide. This guide is for all you Bounty Hunting newbies as well as seasoned veterans. Here we’ll break down how things are set up, the playing mechanics, and offer some hunting tips and tricks. Again, if you need extra help we are moderating over at the The Blaster and Blade on Reddit.

Question: I don’t want to miss this "Bounty Hunt." Where do I go?

As always, our bounty hunts begin on the Blade HQ website. You can find links to the hunt in emails (sent on hunt day) or by clicking the homepage hunt banner (it’s there, I promise). Clicking the hunt link will take you to the hunt page where you will be presented with the mission rundown.

Below is the header on our Bounty Hunt website page:

If you see this, you’re in the the right place. Below the header you can find hunt instructions. Below the instructions you’ll see the missions and bounties up for capture:

Remember: you must have an account with Blade HQ and be logged in (sign up is fast and free). This is a Blade Club-sponsored hunt, so make sure you are logged into your Blade HQ account, are a member of the Blade Club (yes, sign up is still fast and free) and ready to go before the first round begins!

The hunt will officially begin at 5:00pm MDT. At this point the first bounty hunt clue will be revealed and hunters will be able to track down their prey! This is a website specific hunt- we are not going off world this year.

Summary: Make sure you have an account and are logged in to www.bladehq.com. Find the Bounty Hunt page. At 5:00pm MDT the hunt begins.

Question: What is "the hunt" and why are you doing this?

Time for some Blade HQ Lore! A few of the peeps here at Blade HQ are obsessed with treasure hunts, bounty hunts, clue trails, secret codes, and generally making the internet more complicated than it needs to be. The hunts are community-focused events with the sole purpose of entertainment and fun. We know that not everyone has had fun in the past and we genuinely feel sorry for you soulless space wanderers.

Okay, So How Do I Get the Clues?

When the timer hits 0:00 and the hunt begins a location clue will be revealed. You’ll see the clue show up here:

Remember: everything is happening in real time. Once the Bounty Hunt starts you’ll be able to see the number of available prizes and see prizes get captured in real time (the number of available bounties will drop as they are found).

A new clue will be revealed every thirty minutes for six main rounds. Some users have reported that the time shown on the clue console is not correct. While annoying, this should not affect the gameplay and clues will still be revealed in thirty-minute increments.

Important: During the May the 4th Bounty Hunt, each clue will lead you to a specific location. When you arrive at the correct location, you’ll know it because you’ll find a sliding puzzle (it is located on the bottom on the page so scroll on down). Solve the puzzle and the bounty code will be revealed. The image may not be obvious at first, so use your bounty hunter instincts and start sliding. Once the puzzle is solved your secret code will be revealed.

Question: How Do I Claim My Bounty?

One you have successfully solved the bounty puzzle and have your code just type (or copy and paste) the code into the "Promo Code" box on the cart screen. If it’s correct then you have successfully brought in a bounty and you win a knife. That’s it. Really.

Important: Your secret bounty code is linked to your account. It will only work for you. You’re welcome to try and share your code (noble, but un–bounty-hunter-like!), but it won’t work. Also, keep in mind that each bounty hunter can recover one bounty per hunt. Do you strike early? Do you wait for something better? Once you claim a bounty you’re done. This is the way.

Let’s address some of the common code-related questions here (this section will get updated periodically):

    1) Do NOT use the code with any other promotions or items in your cart. Use the code by itself for best results. In rare cases customers have been mistakenly charged a fee (i.e. sales tax). If this happens simply contact us and we’ll get it sorted out for you.

    2) The code is revealed after you solve the puzzle at the correct hunt location. If you don’t see a puzzle, you’re probably in the wrong place.

    3) The code is not case sensitive.

    4) You can try and enter a code as many times as you want, but if a code is not working then the code is not correct, the prize has already been claimed, or you are not properly logged in. And yes, we can see what you type in 😑

    5) Codes are single-use and tied to the player claiming the prize. There is no point in sharing them. Bounty hunters may be generous, but the coupon system is not.

    6) We know you "can’t find the code." You need to find the sliding tile puzzle, solve it, and then you’ll see the code. And yes, we know you "can’t find the sliding tile puzzle." It’s a hunt, guys.

Question: Can You Just Run Me Through a Round, Start to Finish?

You bet. Let’s do a bounty hunt round together!

    1) You’re logged in. You’re a Blade Club member (go you!). You’re on the Hunt page. The clock strikes 5:00pm MDT.

    2) The first clue is revealed! You decide that’s the bounty you want. You set to work deciphering the clue to find the location of the bounty.

    3) Maybe the clue points you toward a knife, a brand, a lanyard. You put that gray matter to work and start connecting the dots. It works. You know where to go.

    4) You arrive at the correct location and find the sliding puzzle. This is how you know you’re in the right place. You slide the pieces, expertly almost as if guided by the force (you know that the bottom right square will be left empty). The puzzle is solved and the code is revealed.

    5) You check the clue console and see that 4/20 of the prizes have been claimed. There is still time. You’ve got this.

    6) You go to the cart page and type the code into the promo code box. Success. You have just scored a free knife. The cost? A few minutes of fun. Blade HQ covers shipping and taxes. The game prizes can only be claimed in the USA (we are sorry!).

    7) You sit back and relax while polishing your helmet. You can only win one prize per hunt, and you’ve got yours. You can still try to solve the clues and find the codes, but you’ve already claimed your reward.

. But maybe you’ll do it just for fun…

    How Many Rounds Are There?

This Bounty Hunt has six main rounds. The hunt begins at 5:00pm MDT, and a new round begins every 30 minutes.

Round 1 begins at 5:00pm MDT.
Round 2 begins at 5:30pm MDT.
Round 3 begins at 6:00pm MDT.
Round 4 begins at 6:30pm MDT.
Round 5 begins at 7:00pm MDT.
Round 6 begins at 7:30pm MDT.

After Round 6, there will be one final reward phase. This is not exactly a normal round. It will unlock after all Round 6 prizes have been claimed, or 30 minutes after Round 6 begins – whichever comes first.

    Everyone Gets Something

One thing to keep in mind for the May the 4th Bounty Hunt: Axel Forkbane may be gruff, dangerous, and mildly emotionally unavailable, but he is not heartless. Even if you don’t win one of the physical prizes, anyone who plays the hunt will be able to claim a $5 Blade HQ store credit at the end.

The final reward phase will unlock after Round 6 prizes have been claimed or 30 minutes after Round 6 begins. There’s no puzzle to solve for this one. No blaster duel. No dramatic speech from a suspicious hooded stranger. Just a little thank-you for showing up and being a cool bounty hunter.

Remember that Bounty Outpost HQ will be in our The Blaster and Blade. Here you can interact with other bounty hunters and maybe even get a clue or two.

    Good Luck, Bounty Hunters!

Happy hunting, and May the 4th be with you.
