This BaliYo model comes in a gray and black configuration.
The Spyderco BaliYo offers a new concept in pens. It provides safe unlimited creative motion anytime, anywhere, even while sitting. These pens are 100% USA-made, using high-performance materials and manufacturing. The BaliYo is 4.25 inches tall and weighs in at 0.85 oz. It uses a Fisher® Space Pen® cartridge that writes underwater, in freezing cold, boiling heat, at any angle, and even upside down.
I absolutely love my Baliyo. It's a lot of fun to mess with. But one problem I had was the screws backed themselves out. Upon further inspection I found that there was no kind of loctite on them at all. Thankfully I found the screws and added some blue loctite to them. Better than new now. But for something USA made and the premium model it should have came with loctite on the screws. The made in China model doesn't seem to have this problem.
I bought one of the cheaper $8.00 baliyos and one of the $35.00 baliyos with the Space pen version. I highly recommend the $8.00 version. The non space pen version is made in China and the Space Pen version in made in the US. The quality of the Chinese made one is actually quite superior than that of the US counterpart. The space pen is suppose to be made to write in extreme conditions, yet the pen is much harder and "clunkier" to retract in and out than that of the Chinese version, especially if you have even remotely clammy fingers. There should have been some sort of knurling or texture put on the twisting portion of the pen. The texture of the space pen has already glossed over with only a few minutes worth of use making it extremely difficult to twist with clammy hands, despite the whole point of the space pen being to write in harsh environments. IMO it is certainly worth $8.00 to get the non space pen version, but i cant say the same for the $35.00 version. Also, when I first opened the pen, it pushed out a fair bit of black plastic that seemed to have been remanence of the molding process. I may return the space pen and just get 4 "normal" versions in multiple colors for the same price. With that said, it is fun to flip around and fidget with, and it does seem to write well once you do get the pen out.
