Perfect EDC
Ken G. on Aug 10, 2020

This is a great little knife with the perfect blade length for EDC. The orange scale is bright and easy to be seen if it happens to get dropped. Sharp, straight, and great for anyone who wants a nice, light, and relatively inconspicuous ECD knife. I own the entire Bugout line and this one will be the one in my right pocket.

William P. on Aug 10, 2020

Had the White and Black Mini BugOut, bought this one to continue the collection. Just sweet knife. Love it.

Great way to get into Benchmade
Brian M. on Feb 4, 2020

This is my first Bugout. It is on the smaller side for me but a great way to get into Benchmade. I am now sold on the Axis Lock, it's so much fun.

Perfect Gift
STUART A. on Mar 10, 2020

I bought this as my wife's first EDC; specifically for the Axis Lock mechanism, because she has never been comfortable with back locks. That it was also her favorite color is why I was willing to preorder. When it came in a month and half before her birthday... well, she got it early. After a week of EDC, she doesn't know why she never carried before. I may have to get one for myself (or a Griptilian®).

A great little companion
JASON D. on Jun 22, 2022

As an incredibly light and compact knife that still packs a capable blade length, it's perfect for typical EDC tasks. Mine arrived perfectly centered, with tight lockup and a blade that was almost dropping shut out of the box. It surprised me a little. Sharpness was a little disappointing with a bit of dragging when cutting paper out of the box. The Grivory scales feel plenty rigid for this knife's uses.

gift for daughter
Devine J. on Sep 19, 2020

I have a bugout and love it. Actually I have more than one. I bought the orange mini bugout for my daughter's birthday. She seemed quite excited about it. 😊

Quality you come to expect from Benchmade
Gene H. on Aug 18, 2020

Excellent product and exceptional service from BladeHQ. I provide 10 of these Mini Bugouts to my staff for exceptional performance and dedication to excellence… Both my team, Benchmade and BladeHQ seem to share these qualities!!! Very fitting and keep up the great work.

Great Knife
MATT S. on Aug 11, 2020

This knife is as expected. I am a big fan of the Bugout and I am not disappointed with the Mini version. It is the same knife, just a tad smaller, meaning the Mini is less intimidating looking and a little easier to carry in a pair of gym shorts. I still prefer the regular Bugout over the Mini but it gives me another option for a great EDC knife. I got it in orange which I like, but would buy another if offered in blackout like the regular Bugout.

Fun Knife
Price M. on Aug 12, 2020

I have many benchmade knives however this model the bugout is so light in my pocket and is really just a all around joy to have. Benchmade got it right again. I might have to buy another one maybe a blue one.

The Perfect Lightweight EDC
Jeff L. on Sep 11, 2021

The "big" knife in a small size. For most of my uses, the "baby bugout" is perfect in size of opened and blade. The S30V blade steel holds an edge beautifully and sharpens or strop-sharpens quickly to a razor like edge. Deep carry clip. Perfectly placed thumb studs. Axis Lock. And weighs so little, you'll forget it's in your pocket. Dig out your credit card right now and just buy it.

So nice , I bought it thrice
loyal p. on Aug 12, 2020

I now have 10 bugouts and 4 bugout minis, they are the best most affordable lightweight, customizable ,and just cool knives you can own , I always get originals, then buy a few to customize, and a user ! Don’t wait ,just get one , then check out the flytanium scales or rogue Bladeworks scales , and eBay has titanium screws, clips , thumb studs etc... make it your own , action is smooth and the scales are much stiffer on the mini . Get one or many !

YES!! Love It! Perfect EDC and Hunting backup knife!
GARY D. on May 5, 2022

I recently splurged with a gift certificate and picked up a boutique fixed blade ultralight hunting knife with SV35N steel. I was soo impressed with how sharp the blade was with that steel.. I immediately came over here and looked for an EDC folder with similar steel. Saw this Orange handled Mini-bugout and pulled the trigger. This other Dual-Bladed hunting knife I have was bugging my leg when on long sits because it's handle is bulky/thick. So was digging into my thigh muscle on long sits. I don't wear belts anymore when hunting due to lumbar/saccrum injury I have. So I can't put the ultralight fixedblade on my hip. And I like having a folder in my pocket when in the backcountry for safety sake and for rapid deployment. So I figured get something like this, which gives me a backup blade, AND... I won't be dulling the blade on the fixed-blade knife since I can use the pocket folder for tasks like cutting off a pokey branch when you're backing up your sit partially into a bush for concealment, or to escape the Sun. Which I end up having to do a lot since often in Chaparral Habitat.

Great Knife. Great Price.
Robert P. on Aug 4, 2021

Big fan of the axis lock. S30V steel has excellent retention and sharpens very well. I got this small version in the orange color to use when I do bench work or piddle in the shop. Very easy to find when you leave it lay somewhere. Get this knife, at this price you won't regret it!

Just needs more handle colors
Jon K. on Aug 21, 2020

I like the mini better than the original. The full size tries to slide out of my hand when I open and close it. The mini just sticks and is just as cool. I have many knives to choose from but this one finds its way to my pocket more than anything. If they come out with some additional colors I'll be even happier.

Mini Bugout Awesome Carry
Theodore D. on Sep 5, 2020

This is my first Benchmade knife purchase. I like the weight of this knife making it effortless to carry. The orange thumb studs and backspacers compliment the scales. The action is smooth and after an very small pivot screw adjustment, the blade freely drops closed shut. The blade is finished well and real sharp out of the box. This will not be my last BM purchase. Great buy!

"Executive Look"
Chris S. on May 9, 2022

Do you wear a suit or work in a business environment? Desire an "executive look" or a knife that will not concern co-workers when you pull it out for use - that's me, I have always carried a knife this size for exactly those reasons. If you are trying to decide between a full size or a mini, these same reasons may help you make your choice. Since size of hand is often discussed in comparison videos too, consider this: the pinky finger wraps around the end of the knife in my medium sized hand in such a way that it anchors it in. I have learned to prefer this - it provides great control for crafty work. The picket clip puts the knife very deep in my work pants so the orange is not noticeable at all. I have been around knives for years as an Eagle Scout and U.S. Marine - if that means anything to you, I think this is an excellent knife and it is my choice for EDC and Backpacking. For comparison, it is almost exactly the same size as the SOG Twitch II which I have seen at most Home Depots if you want to look at the size for yourself first. I purchased 12 as gifts for my ushers at Church: all 12 came perfectly crafted, edged and the Blade HQ engraving was flawless. Well done Benchmade and Blade HQ.

Perfect knife!
Ernesto V. on Aug 23, 2020

Once you take the Mini Bugout out of the box; you immediately feel and experience its amazing quality and comfort. The fact that its weight its super light; makes it extra safe and comfortable to carry it around in your pocket as a daily or everyday carry on. Having an ultra thin, light but strong iron blade CPM-S30V; makes it amazingly resistant and accessible to just cut anything real easy and safe. Also, its overall length just provides accessible maneuver regardless of hands size.

Starter Benchmade
Mike J. on Aug 31, 2021

This mini bugout is a great starter bugout. Great price and then you can get Flytatium scales and turn this into an amazing collectible knife.

Excellent Small EDC Knife!
Crab W. on Feb 20, 2021

Just picked this one up, I already love it! I should mention that this is my first Benchmade knife. I haven't carried it much put it fits in your pocket nicely. The axis lock is super fun to play with and the S30V steel is awesome. I would highly recommend this knife to anyone who is looking for their first Benchmade knife or just looking for one to add to the collection.

Great Knife

This is a Great knife. The size is perfect and lightweight. Thank You Blade HQ for the excellent service.

Less Really Is More - Better than the Delica?
Adam B. on Mar 6, 2020

If you're familiar with the full-size Bugout, you know what you're getting into here. That said: there has been some legitimate questioning of the strength/durability of the scales on the full-size, as you can pinch the middle of the handle and see some flex when the blade is deployed. Thanks to the smaller scale here, you'll find no such flex issue and I was happy to see that improved. The mini feels like a solid competitor to the Spyderco Delica, but at a full ounce less overall weight I've got to give the edge to the Mini Bugout. It's damn near as light as the Dragonfly. And sure, the Bugout line isn't going to win over many fans of large overbuilt cutters. It's all about being light, unobtrusive with it's deep carry clip, and effective at everyday tasks. It's light enough that you could clip it into the pocket of your sweats or your basketball shorts for those days when you aren't wearing your tactical trousers and utility belt. The blaze orange Grivory handles will keep this from getting lost in your kit, and the orange anodized standoffs and thumbstuds give it a nice color pop, all complemented by black hardware. It's a great small knife that I'd love to see in some sprint run variations, as we've seen with the full-size. The price feels a little high given where the full-size lands. I think if they were able to keep it under $100 it would be a sure-fire hit, but there's a lot of competition at the current price point, all offering a lot more blade in more substantial layouts. But sometimes less really is more, and if you can get over that hump this is one that you'll likely find in your pocket more than you'd expect.

The knife is good can’t complain
TORIN R. on Oct 26, 2022

After having two and three thoughts about getting this knife. Reading the reviews contemplating about owning a bugout. I can definitely say that this knife was worth the purchase. This knife is lightweight Very easy to use. I love the thumb stud. I like the mini bug out so much that actually got the bug out.

Nice Little Knife
Joseph B. on Mar 7, 2020

Very light great steel and small. Part of me wishes that I had gotten the larger version. This will be my ultra light carry for backcountry hunting

Great knife but TBD if its better than the full size
Jeff A. on Feb 20, 2020

Love this little knife! Only had it a week but so far it's been all thumbs up. I'm not convinced it's better than the full size yet though. Shameless plug, I reviewed this on YouTube which you can check out here

not sharp
JACK J. on Feb 29, 2020

A really nice well made little knife. Mine was not especially sharp as received. Also the rear 1/4 inch of the edge wasn't fully ground. Not my first new Benchmade and I was a little disappointed with the edge. I would have touched it up anyway, it just took longer than it should have. My son has a full size one. His was flawless.

Blade play. & Not worth the $
Jason H. on Sep 2, 2020

I like the size and axis lock. It came centered but with horizontal and vertical blade play. I’ve tried adjusting the pivot but can’t get it solid without without making the action super stiff. Thought it needed some break in so just fidgeted with it for several days. Still no dice. it’s a shame a $120 knife requires the end user to tune it up. Considered returning for a replacement but unfortunately I’ve since dropped it on concrete and rolled the tip slightly so figure they’ll think that’s why I’m returning it. The edge geometry seems off too. One side is shallower grind then the other. Eh. Bummer. Won’t be getting another Benchmade anytime soon.
