Description:
The Mini Griptilian is a Pardue designed folding knife that utilizes the AXIS lock mechanism, which makes the knife easy to open and close for right and left hand users. The deep carry pocket clip can be reversed, making the Griptilian folder an equally amazing knife for right or left handed users.
The 555-1 has a satin finished sheepsfoot blade with a plain cutting edge and a thumb hole opener.
This knife fits the bill for small, work-ready, super-steel EDC knife. I previously owned the full size griptilian with thumb studs in 20CV. That's the knife I'd grab and go if I needed a bugout situation knife for sure. This one is great for the other 99% of the time i won't be batoning sticks for firewood. Love the blue liners and spydie-hole. Jimmy W below giving it 3 stars because of him not reading the specs and buying the mini-grip instead of the full size is mostly the reason I got on here to give this a 5 star review. Leaving a poor review because he didn't vet his purchase is a him-issue, not benchmade issue.
Had for a few weeks rotating it in EDC. Man I love this thing. With only very minor adjustment it flicks open and falls shut perfectly. The blue liner looks awesome and I think its worth paying up for the 20cv. Some people complain about the bench made QC but mine was perfect and ultra sharp out of the box.
I work in an office so I don't want to carry a large knife in my pocket. This knife is a great size and the thumb hole is really convenient.
Been using a 485 valet for months. was looking for something more durable and utilitarian with an opening hole and a similar blade steel. this is exactly that. Just mirror polished the clip today, making it now my favorite edc knife. The only problem is slightly sketchy centering. But I contacted benchmade who was extremely helpful. Fantastic utilitarian gem. For anyone looking for a no nonsense edc. This is without a doubt it.
This knife is amazing I've carried it used and abused it and it's still sharp. Blade steel is the best I've seen. The over all design is perfect EDC love my Benchmade
This is my favorite version of the Griptilian series. The size is just right for EDC, I was apprehensive at first thinking it might be too small, but once I received my knife that put all my worries to rest. I wear a large size glove and the ergonomics of this knife is very comfortable, it fits very well in hand. The blade shape has been great, the hole is useful for easy deployment and hasn't slacked in the slicing department. The hollow grind is a bit more shallow than I'd like but it still works fine. The steel, handle material, blade shape, handle coloring, and deep carry clip make this knife a great deal (especially when BHQ is doing a Benchmade promotion). If you have a mini grip and are thinking of upgrading, its worth it. If you are a new time buyer, you wont regret it!
As a cop, I had to get this version of the Griptilian. This thing is awesome. I use this knife all the time and it stays razor sharp. I love the hole and the blade shape of this knife!
I was never interested in the Griptilian until I saw this version. The G-10 handle adds the weight the polymer handle was missing, and it feels really good in the hand. I don't know if it is just in my mind, but the new Griptilian flips way easier than the previous model. It is super smooth and once you get the flick down its just as fast as some autos. This is my favorite EDC knife and is in my pocket at least 5 days a week. The deep carry pocket clip is also stealthy, it basically disappears once in the pocket. It comes razor sharp out of the box, and I'm considering buying a second one for emergencies it's just that good!
If you thought the original Mini Grip was good- wait until you feel this upgraded version. Everyone loved the original... except for those cheap feeling plastic handle scales. The g10 on this version feels like a DREAM! And the steel is strong, yet not super tricky to sharpen. One of my daily carries- I love it as much as my 940!!!
Holds it’s edge very well. Lightweight and tough
Great EDC. I think scales could use a bit more texture but 5star nonetheless.
I bought the original mini Grip non-G10 with serrated edge from BHQ a couple of weeks ago. I liked it but was disappointed that the plain edge section was really dull out of the box so I returned it and upgraded to the new model. No disappointment with this one. It's an excellent design, looks great, it's comfortable in the hand and pocket, and the blade on this one came nicely sharpened. It's expensive but still a good value for the quality you get. Also, kudos to BHQ for promptly processing my refund on the original purchase.
This knife is the ultimate upgrade from any original Mini Griptilian! The quality of the handle and the knife steel are fantastic. It's the perfect size EDC for almost anything you can imagine or need a knife for! You will not be sorry if you purchase this knife.
nice size/wt handle slightly small in hand but still feels good - well balanced love that sheepsfoot blade!!! no experience with cmp-20cv - we'll see probably terrific not experienced with the axis lock time will tell currently prefer liner lock the action is a bit to tight for my liking a drop of lube & time may solve this im chicken to loosen the blade screw to much (my problem price - ouch - but a quality knife
This is my new favorite edc. My first was a mini grip with a tanto s30v blade. This is just the beginning of my collection. Knife is just what I wanted. Super sharp out of the box. Perfect for edc. Love the blade style and the Cpm20cv is excellent. G10 is great as well. Blade centering is slightly off but not bad. Only real complaint I have is that the axis lock is kind of sticky and rough feeling when I go to close the knife. Ordered some blue lube so hopefully that helps. All in all the knife is great but when you pay $165 for something the blade should be perfectly centered and the axis lock should be perfectly smooth as well, not gritty feeling like it is now. Hopefully it breaks in with use and the addition of some blue lube. I’d like to stick with Benchmade but I may try a Spyderco or WE out if I get another knife that’s not up to par. Still a fantastic knife though. Definitely my new favorite without a doubt. Slices through anything.
This little guy is one of my top edc knives. Great size and weight for carrying and blade steel is no joke. The g10 scales feel great compared to older models of mini grips and the deep carry pocket clip performs well for a concealed carry. The action is drop shut after adjusting the pivot and body screws and that blade is wicked sharp from the factory!(Already cut myself from the blade lightly tapping my hand) Issues with the knife are mainly going to be with benchmade's quality control, mine came with an uncentered blade so I tried to fix it myself so I didn't have to send it out. I fixed that issue, but lead me to another problem. Maintenance of this knife is a pain if you need to take it apart. Other than that the knife performs well and I really like it.
Mine came centered which is rare but the screws strip out easy and the action is not amazing. For $20 more you can have a ZT 0450 which is much much nicer.
While this is my first benchmade... it's also my first small "Ben Size" knife... you knife banter watchers will know what I am talking about.... here's the review- Pros: great axis lock, smooth action, good blade steel, and overall perfect construction on a light knife. 5 stars on construction and quality. Cons: the only reason this gets 3 stars is because its too small for me. I have been a big knife guy, but tried this on the recommendation that I try a smaller EDC. Live and learn...if your a small knife guy, or your wife or son needs an EDC, this is top notch. But my bear size hands eat this knife for breakfast and hunger for more.
