Description:
The 119 Special is a classic large hunting knife that has been popular for some 47 years, ever since Hoyt and Al Buck used to build them by hand in their two-man shop. Today, this hunting knife has a black phenolic handle with polished guard and polished pommel. The large clip blade is satin finished with hollow ground bevels and a plain edge. The 119 Special comes with a sturdy leather sheath.
Once you have your killer fixed blade, take a look at a companion pocket knife for your everyday carry needs.
It is perfect for woodsy activities and heavy use. Doesn't hold an edge incredibly well, but will server you well. Have had it for 2 years now and used it to baton, chop, etc. Never have had issues. Would recommend.
I got this as a X-Mas present in 2019 and wasn't expecting it to be as good as it is ... I really am hard on this knife out in the woods, and it always out preforms my expectations .. and for the money it's a damn good looking knife as well as useful.
I didn't purchase this knife from bladehq but wanted to give my 2 cents on it. I've had this knife for close to 20 years and before I got it it was on my list of "must have" knives. There is nothing bad I can say about it. It's not made out of the greatest steel but for the price and the fact that it's made in the USA it's a steal. There is no other knife I own that feels as good in the hand or looks as good as this one does. I've put this knife through hell and it's still solid as a rock. Do yourself a favor if you don't own this one and get it.
this knife was crazy sharp when i got it, and stood up to some of the brushes in my backyard, and without sharpening handled deer hid with great ease
The ergonomics are amazing, was really comfortable to use when carving jack-o-lanterns. It also came ridiculously sharp and is easy to get a great edge on. I have no complaints with this knife, it is an American legacy!
Solid hunting knife. Needs to be sharpened a bit but has been a really reliable blade for me.
Bought this knife for my honeymoon in Arizona. It was a great knife to have on my side while hiking. Sharp out of the box and comes with a nice leather sheath. It's the perfect size and weight to be carried all day without a problem.
This is a classic design for a good price. It's higher quality and comes with a better sheath than expected. Just picked it up to fill the fixed blade void in my starter collection.
So this was my first fixed blade knife. I was young and ruthless so abused the s** about this knife and it took a beating. note! the handle is very very slippery would recomend costumizing. it is a full tang but in the handle the steel is very thin and mine broke after 5 years of pure torture. the handle is heavier than the blade, great knife all the way around
Had to work on the edge a bit, but now is razor sharp. Sheath is great. The handle could do without the finger grooves, but they aren't soo deep that they cause hot spots. Overall a nice knife.
