Excellent Neck Knife, but Rough to Wear
STEVEN G. on Dec 14, 2020

Nearly a perfect neck knife. I so wanted to love Mini Tac, but despite its excellent look and feel, its only drawback is that its scales are too rough to wear under my shirt. I suppose if you wore an undershirt under your shirt it would be much better. However, against bare skin, it was very noticeable and hard to ignore the constant digging and scratching into the skin. I might try to sand down the G10 scale just a bit. I'm hoping to attach it to my go-bag/gun bag, somehow, being that I'm probably never going to wear it unless I know I can wear it on the outside of my clothes knowing I'll be in an environment that won't get me strange looks. If I can figure out a way to clip on my waistline, I might carry it concealed. I'd be so happy to use it more often. I'm always going to want better steel but for the money this an exceptional value. There's plenty of handle sticking out of the sheath to quickly remove it; however, I wish the primary finger choil was immediately available when grabbing it from the sheath. I suppose, though, the finger choil is important to securing the knife, which secures really well, by the way, yet still allows the knife to be easily removed. I just wish the sheath was ambidextrous (two-way)...whatever you call it...where you can insert the knife with the blade facing either left or right. The jimping is a huge score. It came a little dull at the belly, but with some time on my Lansky rod system, I was able to make it super slicey. With a 3.5 inch blade (and 3.25 cutting edge) it feels substantially large for such a compact Bowie design.
