The Voyager is ounce for ounce, far stronger than 99.9% of other folders. Each knife features precision made parts with a stiff spring and Cold Steel's Tri-Ad lock mechanism which is arguably the strongest, most reliable, low maintenance lock in the world!
The thick, extra wide blades are made from American steel and meticulously ground to a thin edge for maximum shearing potential. This thin edge also allows us to hone each blade to astounding sharpness. And, because of the high carbon content of the steel, and their near perfect heat treatment, you'll find this sharpness last a surprisingly long time.
The Voyager Series also offers all the other latest refinements in lock-back construction including lightning quick, one-handed opening, state of the art mechanical fasteners, massively oversized pivot pins that are fully adjustable and properly hardened, and dual stainless steel pocket clips for ambidextrous carry and deployment.
The Grivory handles feature 6061 heat treated aluminum liners for the utmost in strength and stiffness and are ergonomically designed to afford a wide array of grip options including the palm reinforced forward grip for which they are particularly well suited.
Grivory is unparalleled as a handle material as it is considerably stronger than Zytel and, when deeply textured, offers a terrific non-slip grip. As an added bonus, it's impervious to moisture and won't crack, warp or shrink and remains remarkably resistant to abrasion or discoloration.
As tools these lightweight, super sharp knives are appropriate in almost any environment from hunting and camping to hiking and general utility chores. They can also readily fill specialty functions such as a boat or river knife, chute knife or police/military and survival/rescue applications.
I'm a career Firefighter/EMT in a small city dept. I've carried this knife and used it in rescue operations. Very sharp knife. Has a very strong lock up. I have the non-serrated version and have used it to cut everything from harness webbing to packaging. Easy to sharpen (I use the spyderco Tri-angle sharp maker kit). This knife has held a good edge. Mine has Aus-8 steel for a blade material and I've not had any issues with rust, even after sweating profusely while fighting a fire and subsequently covering the blade in sweat while its in my pocket. I like this knife very much and would recommend it. It is a large knife that does take up some pocket space, but I can fit my wallet in my pocket while carrying this knife. Easy to pull and deploy from my pocket via the clip. The clip and handle material can chew up the edge of your pants pocket a bit. I watched nutnfancy's review video before I bought this knife and he talked about this problem, and his handle/clip modification to fix it. Good value for what you get.
Love this knife! Mine came super sharp out of the box. Great price for what you get.
This thing is just AWESOME! Its amazing the quality you get for this amount of money. This is one of the best slicers on the market and its also super sturdy because of that TRI-AD lock. Definitely a great value.
Can't wait to get this awesome knife. Blade HQ prices rocks!!!
Best overall, Jack of all trades folding knife available. Tactical, what it excels at. Edc, it might be too long but it's certainly not too heavy, it's my longest serving edc. Food prep, it's very good at it with that full flat grind and it being thin behind the edge. Outdoors, camping, hiking; it's handle is comfortable enough and it's tough enough that you might get away with it being your only knife. It does need to have the grip scales sanded down some and the pocket clip needs to be bent slightly to really get this to shine, took 15 minutes of work with 400 grit sp and a pliers.
To modify a quote by Ricky Bobby, "If you don't -own a cold steel knife- then F*** you" but not really, I mean you like whatever you like, and that's fine. But I think these are just staples for bad a** knives that really make ya feel like you got a REAL knife in your hands. So we all say triad lock, and I will also say tri-ad lock, because tri-ad lock. And what I mean by that is the tri-ad lock is a p o w e r f u l lock, yes backlocks are kinda annoying, yes this one is harder to press than others, but it's okay because it is that awesome and strong, so the backlock just h a s to be strong. yes the pocket clip is too strong and the texturing can tear at your pants but it honestly carries pretty well and it isn't terrible to carry. the best part is it's such a huge knife! perfect for tactical knife usages. Also full flat ground. Also a Very comfortable and secure grip, also a nice thickness. really this knife is wonderful, watch out on closing it with the backlock, but yeah great knife, gotta have a cold steel, glad I bought it when it was under $50 . . .
Good value for cost, materials, design, and function. Practical, general purpose knife. The light weight handle makes this good for hiking. Handle is sturdy - no flex. Blade is very sharp. Cuts paracord quick and clean. Hazard Note: please use two hands to close this knife. (I was trying to be a hot-shot and close it one-handed. The lock was stiff. So, I jiggled the knife while depressing the lock and the blade drop-shut on my finger. Ouch!) Con.s: 1) Only color - black. (This knife disappears in the bottom of my backpack. I added a bright tab.) Wish it came with a neon yellow handle. 2) Pocket Clip. I can't get it over the fabric. (I am going to remove it.) 3) Grip - there is a "bump" on the handle between the ring finger and the little finger. I have small/med. size hands. My little finger lands on this bump. I wish the "bump" was not there. (I am going to find a way to flatten it out.) Overall: I like this knife and recommend it. Practical work knife.
First of all I really like this knife! It is lightweight for its size and the grip is conformable while allowing you to maintain traction. The only thing against the knife is the pocket clip. Bought off of a TNP review. After having this knife for several months I would recommend it!
