The lock is operated by pulling the fin back with your thumb or index finger—a motion similar to using a flipper opener. When the blade is locked open, the fin serves as a comfortable thumb ramp, which is jimped to increase your control over the knife. Additional jimping on the spine and a high grip option also contribute to the pocket knife??s usability.
