I love this knife. I have been working on a collection of traditional folders, and the Douk-Douk was one of the first ones I purchased. It is super slim, sturdy, and unique. I find that even though I have other knives (both traditional & modern) this one still finds its way into my pocket pretty regularly. It is easy to sharpen or keep sharp, it is invisible in my pocket, and it slices incredibly well. The strong slip joint doesn't bother me, but it is something to keep in mind - to me it just makes the knife feel safer and more sturdy.

First and foremost, this is a truly classic knife in every sense of the word. This is like owning a piece of history. That said, the action is a tad bit stiff and needs to be worked for a while before breaking in. The blade itself is fantastic but could benefit from a patina to extend its life. To do this, dip the blade (not the entire knife) into vinegar for around 30 minutes or until you see the blade begun to turn a slight green. At this point, you will have a high carbon blade that is rust-resistant while still retaining its natural strength.

For the money, why not get yourself this historical knife and find out on your own why it was so popular. You won't be sad.
