The Fallkniven X series is the best they have to offer. These knives come with an exposed full-tang construction, Thermorun handle scales, a slightly thicker blade stock, and are made of of Laminated Cobalt Special Steel.
Fallkniven knives from Sweden began manufacturing knives back in 1984. As fishermen and hunters for decades, they have used their knowledge to produce some of the most prized and beloved outdoor survival knives in the world. The A1 knife has proven to be an incredibly popular design, one that you only fully appreciated once you've experienced its superior design and craftsmanship.
Awesome knife great heavy feel in the hand definitely feels indestructible. I am slightly disappointed as the knife I got can barley cut paper and now I already have to go and buy a diamond belt kit to sharpen the knife I just opened to atleast be able to easily cut paper….NONE THE LESS this knife is amazing I have already used it and even with the iffy edge it still carved through wood nicely for making little campfires
I bought the Fallkniven A1X for myself after getting the A1-Pro for my son’s birthday. The A1X is very sharp and holds an edge very well. It Still slices through paper like the day I got it. Be sure to only sharpen the A1X with a Diamond-Ceramic whetstone(like the Fallkniven DC4) because the A1X is made of Cobalt steel. I love the thickness of the spine, the Full Tang and the overall heft of the A1X. I’ve seen the A1X being abused in “toughness” tests online and most fixed blade knives on the market today would snap under the same circumstances. I own dozens of quality fixed blade knives and this A1X is definitely the toughest of the bunch. I’m not crazy about the handle tiles or the sheath. So, I purchased a custom leather sheath with ferro loop and pouch for the DC4 sharpener. I’m also in the process of replacing the tiles with Elk Stag tiles. I’ve chopped wood and branches, made feather sticks, carved tent spikes and everything else around the campsite. It’ll handle just about any chore I can think of. If SHTF, this is the knife I grab on the way out to door!! Happy Trails!!!
I have a normal A1, and the A1X is a beast. It's quite a bit thicker, and noticeably heavier. You no longer have to worry about the all Kraton handle weathering away, though it would take an awful lot for that to happen. My A1 has some knicks in the handle as do all my all Kraton handled knives. Nothing to worry about, though many of them are going on 2 decades. But this, is the tip top version of the A1. I highly recommend it. Well worth, the money. If you love your A1, I recommend getting this upgrade. If you've been looking to get one, jump on this version, unless you are a stickler about weight.
