This Principle has a black rubber overmolded handle.
You always wanted full tang, zero-edge Scandi-ground, super ergonomic, light weight, bang-for-buck oriented Gerber fixed blade? Well, dreams do come true. The Principle is a Puukko style knife with an excellent sheath and build quality. The blade is made of 420HC with a true Scandinavian grind, and a drop point blade profile that maximizes it's utility in woods tasks. One of the crowning features is the extremely versatile sheath, which can be mounted vertically, scout style, or on MOLLE webbing.
I love this knife! The geometry is beautiful, fits my medium sized hands perfectly. Thick blade, great grind, it looks like the edge was power stropped too, very sharp! The sheath leaves much to be desired, but at this price point, not too bad. The biggest issue I have is with the profile that creates the handle and choil not being smooth, but bumpy as though the radius of the curves were milled by hand. These are deep side-to-side grooves that I can’t grind out myself. Initially, I thought it was jimping, but it’s too irregular to be that. Doesn’t impact performance, but a disappointing QA miss. Overall, nice knife.
I initially liked the blade as a whole. Pros: - decent fit - strong blade - good handle, good attachment points cons - point weak (broke batoning park campfire wood, grind seemed uneven) - sheath had awkward attachments and was right hand only
