The most famous fixed blade knife in the World - "The KA-BAR" - was designed to serve our troops during World War II and is still doing its job, with honors, more than 50 years later. The Ka-Bar Bowie knife features Ka-Bar's famous oval shaped leather handles. The blade is black coated 1095 Cro-Van steel and comes with a leather sheath.

Not only is it practical, but it’s a piece of history as well. Fantastic quality in these knives. I am well pleased with this purchase!
I was lucky to chance upon a real KBAR here at bladehq. This appears to be built as an original KBAR as it arose in 1944. I avoid commemoratives, those with a bottle opener formed into it or a compass in the handle because those are knockoffs or replicas of the original. The knife must have a tang that runs to the end of the leatherstack handle. This one should have that spec to be any good. IIRC there were a number of companies contracted with the .gov to make the knife so a KBAR is actually a specific type of knife made to specific dimension. I hope this one is made to original. I had to buy my original for my personal option gear in 1977 even tho I was on active duty, weird huh? but that's how it was on that particular day. After 43 years of owning my original, one of the local bottom feeders managed to steal it from me. They steal stuff and sell it nnfor meth. Maybe one of them will go to jail over it sometime. I'm writing this review as I buy myself this replacement today. Thank you bladehq!!!
Great quality and only $70 I love how you can really say that’s not a knife this is a knife!
If you want a combat/survival knife, this is the classic. You cannot go wrong with the Ka-Bar 1217. It's a sturdy and reliable knife that will last even the most abusive tasks. 1095 Cro-Van steel is a great choice too. Keeps an edge well and is easy to touch up. And lastly, support the Marines with the Ka-Bar 1217. Classic knife. Classic choice.
I am a Marine veteran and have always wanted a ka bar. This knife came razor sharp out of the box. I could not be happier with this purchase.
Incredibly sturdy, over built knife. With only 70$ you get a axe, knife, and masterpiece. Unbeatable quality and price.
Are you from America? If you answered yes, buy one. If you answered no, buy two.
If you are reading this review, you are just looking for an excuse to buy this knife. So just buy it and get it over with. It comes razor sharp out of the box. The leather sheath is nice too, and the USMC logo is really nice. The leather handles are not as grippy as the rubber ones, but they look cooler. If that is an issue for you, then just get both knives! I own several kabars, and this one is my favorite!
This knife is classy and sharp! The only reason why it only got 4 stars was because the tip is thin and Im guessing will break easily and the handle is a little uncomfortable due to shape
Previous to the Big Brother, I had a cheap Damascus Bowie from Amazon, which lasted me two years when the handle broke; however, when I got the KA-BAR, I had high hopes. A friend of mine had owned a veitnam-era Full size and convinced me to buy from KA-BAR, and so I bought this knife. It shipped pretty fast, and when I opened the package, it was a beautiful blade. I put it into use bushwhacking and building a small structure with the materials this knife cut. Anyway, after the shelter was built, we went about making the roof, in which, I was tasked to make supports. On the last one that I cut down, I noticed something wrong with my blade. It had bent 6 Degrees at the handle/tang, this, after only 3 weeks of use really disappointed me after such an incredible job it had done prior. I don't want to straighten it in fear of fatiguing the metal, so now I'm stuck with a knife that might break in two with another use.
