When I received this knife, the action was sluggish but it worked okay. After about a few hours in my pocket, there was vertical play so I tried to take it apart but the screws were extremely tight so I was unable to take it apart to try to fix it. The things that I like about this knife is that it feels good in hand and the deployment is easy to use.
Thick, not quite centered, but simple knife

The good:
1) This knife has really thick grind geometry, and is perfect for tough abusive tasks such as survival, fishing, hunting and general outdoors.
2) You get a lot of knife for your money, and the overall build quality seems good.
3) With slight adjustment, it opens easily with a thumb flick and the "Emerson Wave" works excellently.
5) The clip is decent and it holds nicely in the pocket, despite its size and weight.
6) The stonewash looks awesome, the scales feel good and there's nothing, apart from lack of centering, that feels poor quality.
7) The pivot screw is a simple flathead, meaning it's easy to adjust anywhere with the simplest of tools.

The bad:
1) Mine wasn't centered and there doesn't seem to be any adjustment I can make to the central pivot screw to center it. Hence, there is contact with the thickened part of the grind above the sabre line when closing, although the edge does not come in contact at any point.
2) The thick geometry makes this knife not ideal for more delicate tasks or for slicing. You'd have better luck slicing a potato with a butter knife than this wedge monster (although it is ideal for 'tougher' tasks for the same reason).
3) The factory edge was far from great. It took a good 10 minutes on a Shapton Glass 2000 and 6000 and 10 more minutes on a series of strops to get this shaving sharp with a decent, durable edge. Also, there is a slight dimple of a bolster, which is a bit of nuisance when sharpening, as it often catches.
4) The 8Cr14MoV is not the best in the world for edge retention, so you should get used to resharpening. Although it's pretty decent in terms of being "stainless."
5) The tip...well there really isn't a tip, so not ideal for stabby tasks, but that does mean the nice secure geometry extends all the way down the spine to the "end," making the tip area more for slicing and shaving rather than stabbing.
Great knife for light camping and EDC.

I like this knife very much, it feels good in my hands which are larger, and the blade shape is unique and works well for light and medium duty type cutting tasks. I like the look and feel of the G-10 on just the one side more than I thought I would, and the knife sits well in the pocket. The "wave" feature on the back of the knife is just alright, It works for me and fully deploys the knife 9/10 times, but for me I need to be able to trust a blade is fully out and locked. It also sort of detracts from the ergonomics of the knife for me. I like the disk as a rest for my thumb but the wave prevents that grip from really working for me.
Different look, great knife.

I love my Emersons, but sometimes I'm apprehensive about abusing them. Not this knife. Price is great. I can carry it and beat the crap out of it and not feel bad. The grip is a bit thin, but not a deal breaker. Love the look.
Finally got my hands on it!

I've had my eyes on this knife for a while.Though I'd been stalking one of the earlier models in the Kershaw-Emerson series, this one stole my heart as soon as I saw it. I like the specs and love the unique look. It fits in my large hands and the subtle texture feels good. Even though it is not small, it feels small in my pocket. Thumb deployment is aMAZing (I was drawn to the pocket deployment, but so far I have avoided that so I can use my thumb). And literally every person who has seen it has commented on what a cool knife it is - even the ones who don't really care for knives. I've carried it every day since Day 1 - if I want or need another knife with me that day, it rides shotgun to this one :)

This knife was my first ever purchase from BladeHQ. It definitely wasn't my last as I got a Bradley Kimura less than a month later.
It fits perfectly in my hands. the blade is just the right length. there are so many things that I could ramble on and on about this knife and the other Kershaw Emersons out there.
also the only other knife that I currently own and carry that I can open as fast as this knife opens, is a balisong, and it is only when it is oriented in a certain way. it opens backhanded and backwards.

I bought this for no good reason and expected to gift it if I didn't love it. So I'm keeping it... it's heavy it's tactical and not at all my style but this thing is smooth. Felt like I got a "good one." I have a handful of kershaw knives and this the sharpest and smoothest from the factory by alot. Stone wash is excellent. Blade shape is more useful than it looks. Wave, thum disc, and middle finger flick all work great to open. Best for last...it also falls shut!!!on washers!!! The washers could be bigger dia as it does have some blade play if you muscle up on it. Not worth losing a star. Great knife.

Got this knife for Christmas and I must say, I am impressed! The blade centering was right on and it cut through paper like it was nothing. Absolutely no blade play and the stonewash finish is beautiful. 8Cr14mov works great for the household chores I need. The best thing about this knife is that the ergonomics of the handle are perfect, didn't expect anything less from an Emerson design. I suggest you go pick up one for yourself, or maybe two or three.
