I have XL hands. The handle is so spare, that I need to gyrate my fingers and curl them in close when I deploy the blade so it does not hit me. As a result once, the torque from the blade opening actually spun the knife out of my hand. Impressive spring! I grip it firmer now. At 2.8 oz, this knife is like a feather and is like carrying air. That does not detract from its utility at all. I compare this knife to ,my $40 Boker Kalashnikov auto with a Wharncliffe blade. The Boker is AUS 8, an inferior steel. The blade is so thick that it does not open letters near as well as this Kershaw which as a thinner and much sharper blade. The Boker scales are a far better size and shape, but very poorly painted and esthetically not very interesting. The paint rubs off FAST and the knife looks cheap as a result. This Kershaw 13 appears to have a hard anodized type 3 (milspec) coating. The handle feels like a fine firearm. I was shocked to find out how SMALL this knife is. If you have XL hands, you will wish the handle was about an inch longer. The Boker has gimping on the base of the handle which helps seat it in your palm better. This Kershaw lacks gimping on the handle base. The narrowness of the handle gets some getting used to. But its OK. And the shape certainly is unique. The little laser engraved American flag on the handle is properly displayed as going TOWARDS danger. I opted for some laser engraving on the blade: BIG DAVE'S KNIFE 954-XXX-XXXX REWARD. It came out perfect! The pocket clip could be better. Its sparse, short and not easy to clip in my pants pocket with one hand. I need TWO hands to clip it in. I am adapting. I very love the knife, I am giving a much more in depth review than most. It is a DEEP and hidden pocket carry which is great. The clip is so strong I need to push the bottom of the handle up while I tug on it to get it out of my pocket. This may be because I have fat fingers and and an XL hand, but it's fine really. Just different than my Boker. My next knife will be a Boker Kalashnikov with the blade in D2 steel. I will paint and then matte clear coat the scales.
I now have 3 from the Launch series and this is my fav. Got it in blue. The asthetics and angular edges really sets it apart. Deploys as they should and satisfies every time. Great steel for such a blade. Comfortable to carry and to use. Can't find a complaint if I tried. One of Kershaws finest specimens.
This 3.5 inch blade with little to no handle is amazing in your pocket. Don't miss out on this one. I think it's the best of the Launch series. Another keeper, and with a Wharncliffe blade too! WOW!
It by no means makes the same sound as a M1 grand but I enjoy the solid thump it makes when deploying almost as much. The handle ergonomics fit my hand perfectly and I also really like the milled button lock. Came adequately sharp and by that I mean it did the paper test but it wasn't hair shaving sharp. I have dropped it once when deploying because I was in an awkward position and forgot how solid the deployment is. Thankfully it survived that fall with no damage.
Knife is super sharp right out of the box, nice and light fits my hand well and a sucker for the wharncliffe blade love it
Crazy sharp! And very snappy. Im really surprised though at how light it is. Really a great knife
This knife is excellent, fit and finish is perfect. Blade is dead centered and the knife opens reliably and with a satisfying snap upon deployment. Beautiful design aswell and fits in the hand very well. I strongly advise keeping a firm grip on this one, I've already chipped the tip off three times. If you're looking for an auto for EDC this is a great choice. 10 outa 10
There is nothing about this auto that isn't fantastic! The button is clean and crisp without creep or mush. The blade is tight but opens with a snap you like to hear. It fits the hand slimly, but is firm. It carries light and easy. The clip is super tight and takes a little fitting. All autos should be this good!
Very well designed knife. This is probably my favorite Kershaw next to the Bareknuckle Love the blade shape and the handle is very ergonomic. Action is good and it carries well. It is also an impressively lightweight piece. Well done!
