The Ontario RAT Model 1 is a superb design from Randall's Adventure & Training that is manufactured by Ontario Knife Company (OKC). This knife is designed for comfort and performance with an index finger groove on the handle to keep your hand where it should be and jimping on the spine of the blade for controlled cutting. The handle features textured scales with an open-built frame. The Ontario RAT Model 1 is a strong, high-quality knife at an unbelievable price!
Ontario Knife Company makes a variety of tough-as-nails folders and fixed blades at an unbelievable price!
This is my first impression review. My story is, I buy every under $50 knife I find interesting, trying to find that best bang for your buck. This is one of those knives. Solid construction, tight fit/finish and every color choice you can imagine. Super smooth action and surprisingly grippy scales for it being GFN. The coolest part being the blade design. It's hard to tell from the pics but the blade has pretty significant upward offset. This offset combined with the slight curvature of the handle puts the tip right in line with your grip. Although a bit bigger and heavier than my normal EDC this knife appears to be ready for a hard days work. Easy access to the liner lock. This knife is shipped in a tip down configuration which isn't the norm these days but can be put in any of four locations. I did try it in tip up just to see but returned it back because it is just so dang comfortable. My only complaint is the same complaint I have with almost all knives is I wish it had more jimping on the spine. Don't get me wrong it has the norm and more than enough I just always wish for more. With every order I am more amazed at the quality under $50 can get a knife enthusiast these days.
good, hard working folder for someone who isnt lookin to impress, just get it done while still maintaining a smaller stature
