SOG Pentagon XR Lock Knife Black G-10 (3.5" Black)

The break in period on this knife took about a week. The XR lock was the only way I could get it open. The flipper and the thumb stud would just not budge. I considered sending it back but then, slowly but surely it started opening smoothly. I was tempted to remove a star for the frustration period I had with it but, the enjoyment I get now just from the sound of it opening makes up for it. Do it slowly with the XR lock and you'll see what I mean... sounds like a hinge on a medieval suit of armor or something. The Pentagon is my designated self defense knife so I also carry a SOG XR Ultra or a Bugout for any light duty cutting tasks. If you need a self defense blade that will serve equally well in an outdoors/utility role, there are better options, such as the SOG Trident AT. I have that one too. It's just slightly too thick for me to carry comfortably around the city in my jeans pocket.
