This Spyderco Bob Lum Chinese HAP40 is an exclusive run for Blade HQ and extremely limited. We hope you enjoy this knife as much as we do!

We consider Bob Lum to be one of the greatest knife designers and we're ecstatic to be able to work with Spyderco on an exclusive run of Bob's classic Lum Chinese knife. We wanted to create a knife that was as unique and special as Bob.

The full flat ground blade features a HAP40 core, clad between 2 layers of SUS420. HAP40 is an advanced, high-speed tool steel know for its exceptional toughness and high abrasion resistance. SUS420 is a stainless steel that gives the finished blade increased strength and improved corrosion resistance.

To round out the design, we chose textured Natural G-10 scales. We love the translucent quality of this material and how it showcases the handleís stainless steel liners.

Bob Lum was a custom knifemaker who took traditional Asian designs and infused them with all things modern. This venerable leaf-shape found on the Lum Chinese folder has been around for centuries on serviceable everyday cutting instruments in China.

Mine came with perfect centering and a lamination line with a sublime consistent curve. While Iím not in love with the pocket clip it is certainly one of my favorite ďdress carryĒ knives. On the small size, light, and attractive.
Not what expected

I have owned 3 original Bob Lum Chinese Folders and this one pales in comparison. First of all it doesnít feel as heavy or substantial in the hand. The scales are see - thru so now rust is visible where the screws are. Itís not anywhere as smooth operating as the original. The blade is still pretty. It cuts. Not worth the $$
My knives donít sit in a box.

The blade is very sharp and just a hair off-center: close enough. The knife is very light weight with the liners being drilled out, and I wish every G-10 knife had scales with this amount of texturing: itís perfect. The one star deduction is for the lamination lines: close to perfect on the clip side but uneven on the show side. Not bad enough to return, because I really like this knife, but for $200 both of this lines should be at or near perfection. If that doesnít bother you, I would still recommend this knife.
Better Than Expected!!!

And I was expecting it to be pretty darn good!!! The knife feels amazing in the hand and the blade really is a piece of art. The size of the blade makes this blade very useful; which was an issue I had and kept me from buying the smaller: "L'il Lum Folders". Mine came to me perfectly centered with no blade play, and very sharp. One thing I noticed on the knife is that the lamination line is almost perfect on both sides. I had a Caly 3 in HAP40 and the lamination line was quite wavy and varied by at least 2 mm.

I'm so happy with this one that I am seriously considering buying another one before they sell out.

Iíll be keeping this nice piece of craftsmanship pretty clean. Mine came super sharp & centered. My first Lum knife....had my eye on Lil lum but just too small for my taste.
A bit pricey but well worth it for steel & style....Natural scales rock!!
Very Sharp

I have a few spydie knives and wanted to see if Iíd like it, and so far so good. Been carrying it for about a week now, it has good size and weight. The HAP40 is pretty damn sharp. Weíll see how this blade will hold up as edc.
Great knife, QC varies...

I picked up two of these in order to pick the better of the two, and I'm glad I did. The better one is well finished, with a nice even grind. The lamination line is a bit uneven from side to side, but that is typical with HAP40 blades. It's a nice slim profile, and the Jade G-10 looks great. That said, the lesser of the two has a noticeably uneven finish on the blade, the grind lines aren't all in the same direction. On a less expensive model this could be overlooked, but this is a clear lapse in quality control. It comes across as a rushed job, where a few extra steps in the finishing of the blade would have fixed this cosmetic issue.
Love them Lum's!

Another outstanding exclusive from BHQ. if you are fan of Bob Lum designs you will not be disappointed with this knife. Excellent fit and finish and the Hap40 blade is razor sharp. Yeah, the price is a little steep but I just couldn't resist this beauty. As always BHQ customer service rocks!
