This Ladybug knife has a flat ground K390 super steel blade with a plain edge and a satin finish. Bohler K390 is a high-alloy particle metallurgy tool steel enhanced with vanadium, tungsten, and cobalt. The handle is a special blue FRN.
The Ladybug is one of Spyderco’s smallest lightweight knives. It has an uncanny amount of usable cutting power and utility for a knife of its size and it's a blast to use. The fiberglass reinforced nylon (FRN) handle is optimally textured and outfitted with the back lock mechanism for confidence inspiring lockup. The handle has a hole for a key ring or lanyard. When closed the Ladybug is about the same size as your car keys, which makes it an ideal key-chain carry knife that won't weigh you down.
Spyderco offers the Ladybug knife in a variety of colors and materials. Click HERE to see all the Spyderco Ladybug knives in stock!
First off, don't be put off by the name. Ladybugs are like the elite special forces, masters of utterly destroying aphids and other pests. Remember that! This thing is a champion slicer, it will cut through anything you throw at it very well for its size. It also feels comfortable in the hand for its small size. It is surprisingly sturdy considering it has no steel liners, there is no blade play at all. I feel confident using it as a beater and not worried about breaking it. I would have preferred M390 or 20CV over K390, but I am not too worried about rust and it is taking a nice patina.
This thing really is tiny. I wouldn’t say keychain small but close. Despite its small size it sits in my very large hand nicely. Great for small packages and bag. The best part people don’t over react with this knife like they do when you pull out a spyderco military or endura.
What a superb little knife, excellent steel, A box cutting machine. Very attractive blue in person. Also MAJOR PROPS BHQ they gave me stickers and stuff during quarantine thnx dad!
