Bought this knife and swapped the m4 blade for an S30V one on a g10 model. Fit is great. Can't say too many positive things about the para 3 lw as a whole, it isn't as smooth as the g10 model. It also doesn't feel as nice either. This is likely due to having FRN and a single washer. It feels a little slippery. The wire clip unlike on the Spydiechef, feels very wobbly. As you can tell, I'm not all that enamored by it. I gave away the s30v mint para 3 lw to a coworker who needs a knife and wouldn't go out of their way to buy one. As a gift, this knife excels.

Iíve always had a Spyderco crush, but didnít want the Tenacious so I waited for something more enticing. When I saw this BHQ exclusive run in M4 for $122, I pulled the trigger.
When it showed up I didnít know what to make of it. The plastic scales seemed a littlectoylike and it felt like there was nothing to it.
I started fidgeting with it and it started to grow on me. Love the compression lock and for one washer, it flies open. Also the scales are grippy and quite solid. It doesnít feel flimsy at all.
Where it shines is both in ease of carry and ergos. It weights next to nothing and you easily forget it is there. The gimping on the ramp of the blade provides a really solid grip and if you use the gimping in the choil, even more so. The blade is gorgeous and ridiculously sharp and the perfect EDC size. I put a bit of cooking oil on it every few days as it isnít stainless. Once used to it I realized what a well designed EDC this is.

This knife is beautiful. Amazing action. Great color. Yes, as other folks have said, it's not exactly as minty as the amazing pictures Blade HQ took, but it's pretty close. There is also a big difference between this color and the teal version. Some folks say it's exactly the same and it's not. A couple of things to be aware of:

1. It's CPM-M4, so it's vulnerable to rusting/staining, opposed to other Spyderco steels you see available. This held me up on previous Blade HQ exclusive Spyderco sprint runs. I did some research, and it's not as bad as I thought. If you keep this thing properly oiled (I'd suggest using food-safe mineral oil in case you end up using it to cut up an apple), you're not going to have any problems. For most general EDC folks like myself, you'll be fine. If you live in super humid climates or are trudging through the swamps on a regular basis, you may want to give thought to another steel. That being said, no matter how wet your situation is, if you dry the knife and oil it after use, you are going to be fine too. For that lack of corrosion resistance, you get steel that is extremely tough (7/10) and amazing at holding its edge (9/10). I strongly suggest you consult Blade HQ's excellent steel guide (https://www.bladehq.com/cat--Best-Knife-Steel-Guide--3368#cpmm4) for more information. It opened my eyes. For example, I learned that all my knives that are D2, are also vulnerable to corrosion, and I haven't oiled these or had any problems to date.

2. Let's talk about blade centering. I previously bought the standard BD1 lightweight Para 3 and returned it because the blade wasn't centered, and I'm too much of a noob to fix it myself. Then I watched a bunch of videos, and I learned that it is not going to be centered because of how it's built. Instead of my basic self trying to explain it, just watch this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bq0c5JqCtU4) where Eric Glesser from Spyderco (who designed the knife) takes the thing apart and puts it back together, and explains how there is only a phosphor bronze washer on one side as the other side is set into the FRN scale. This explains why it looks like it's not centered, but it's fine, and the action is sweet.

Hope this is helpful.

This knife is great all around but but what I really enjoyed was customizing it, I rit dyed the handle a dark green and then forced a patina on the m4 blade. I'm very happy with the final result and it's now going in my pocket everyday.

Itís a great knife for 120 bucks. It is very light and arrived razor sharp. The blade is center. The compression lock is easy to use. It has all the things that you expect from a US made Spyderco.

This is a nice EDC for all the notes above. The color makes the knife unique as well, and gives you that exclusive feeling. The clip is very simple and functional. Canít go wrong with this knife.

I have kind of avoided Spyderco compression lock knives. I never really got along with the g10 models I've had. When I saw this at $122 with M4 and a nice non-threatening color, how could I say no. After using it for a little while I am so impressed I now have a hard time justifying any other knives on my wishlist. Hardly anything out there even comes close to what this package delivers in terms of functionality and quality. It came very sharp with a perfectly semetrical grind. Mine has no centering issues. The blade is offset by maybe .001" because of the way the washer is designed on the para 3 lw but it is not a QC issue and it's not noticable. The action is perfect. I didn't have to make any adjustments and after a day of break-in, it is easy opening, perfect engagement, zero blade play, and the blade drop shuts as long as I don't strangle the scales. Do it.

Out of the box sharpest knife I've bought. Sharper than my m4 benchmade at half the price. The benchmade opens smoother, but this is more comfortable to operate. Bought another para 3 teal s90v as a gift. If I want fast opening wave hands down. For good blade steel para 3.

This is by far the best knife Iíve ever owned. The day after I got it a friend of mine came over with his skid protector hanging off his car and said he had no way of cutting it out. The para 3 LW in m4 was able to easily cut through the tough plastic that the skid protector was made of and was still able to cut my arm hair after! Absolute beast of a knife.

Can't go wrong with this one. I could care less about perfect centering or a tiny bit of lock stick as long as the blade is good. Spyderco does a really good job with their heat treats so I never worry about getting a super steel that doesn't perform like a super steel. Once you sharpen it a few times and get rid of the fatigued steel this m4 is really impressive. Just rub some edci spray on it and your good to go. M4 for $120 is pretty amazing, surprised these are still in stock

I bought this model for the steel. Not a huge fan of the color. You know the pastel mints offered at weddings? It's that color green. At least they didn't make me buy a pastel pink M4 para 3LW! The knife showed up with the pivot screwed in all the way. It was tight- like they torqued the pivot to 100 pounds kind of tight. After adjusting the pivot with a T10 Torx, it's dialed in to be drop shutty and flippy open-y without any blade play. Just be sure to have some Torx bits to make some adjustments, its worth it!
Best Para 3 maybe?

I own a Para 3 in 110v the blurple one, I believe discontinued. It is incredible in every facet. That said, I couldnít find a reason to jump into a lightweight version. Frn and BD1N for $100+ meh.. then this one came around. Still frn but the mint green which I thought would be girly is actually quite aesthetically pleasing and growing on me more and more, then you throw M4 on it for $122.. Iíll take your entire stock! No but seriously first day in my pocket action was quickly made snappy, lightly coated in oil and adjusted the pivot. Lightsaber sharp and made even sharper with a quick hone and strop. Another amazing SpyderCo addition to the collection. If youíre on the fence about any knife right now. This one is one to grab. But take care of the blade!

centering is off just like most say it is, it did kind of bother me but it does not change how well this knife can knife. frn scales are a quite a different color than all the marketing. This is closer to a sort of "Tiffany Men's collection" green and I like that too but the marketing went so far that it changed the color. The edge grind looks like the belt needed to be changed and created an ever so slight serration. Still slices effortlessly through everything I have used it for. final issue is the detent. Feels like the detent is slightly too large for the ball and allows for a smidge of movement. This does not change the retention nor the opening. Absolutely love how lightweight this is. The ergonomics are perfect for my hands. Drop shut right out of the box with not even the slightest wiggle.
Some people have address concerns about the pocket clip, I think they end up thinking this lightweight clip and frn should be able to bear the weight of a full grown man in motion whilst it snags upon an immovable object. One should not have such high expectations of a pocket clip in a lightweight format. The FRN that people so often call "expensive plastic" is much nicer than you would expect. I like how it feels and think it is high quality. I might try dying the FRN at some point. All in all, this knife feels magical in my hand.
The knife I've been waiting for.

QC on this knife is amazing. Its just like my base model para 3 lightweight, got to break it in and then its buttery smooth. Just weeks before this release I remember telling myself " If the Para 3 LTWT ever came out in M4 with a crazy green handle, I would drop money on it without hesitation". Well, Blade HQ surprised me with this gem. Only problem is that I just bought a Microtech and would feel guilty about spending more money so I just chalked it up as a loss. Then my wife surprises me with an early birthday present. Couldn't believe it, but it was this knife. Very happy with it. So far every spyderco I've owned has not had a single issue.

Okay, this is long. I apologize. First, if you read nothing else, please at least read this first paragraph:

Ideally, before you order any Lightweight Para 3 (this doesn't apply to the G-10 version), but *especially* before you write a review where you complain about the blade centering, there's something you need to know. Blade centering is not a design goal of the Para 3 LW. This knife is designed and manufactured with the blade offset to the right side. Either take your Para 3 LW apart, watch the video of Eric Glesser showing how to disassemble it ("Paraô3 Lightweight Breakdown" on the SpydercoKnives channel), or at least take a close look at the pivot on the one in your hand. On the left side of the blade, you will see a partial steel liner at the pivot and another small chunk of liner just above and rearward of that; just enough steel to make a compression lock. On that side, there's a phosphor bronze pivot washer, between the blade and bit o' liner. On the right side, it's just an FRN scale. No liner, and no washer. Therefore, the blade will always sit right up against the right scale. It's not a mistake, and it's not something you're going to adjust back to center. That's how it's made.

Now for the TL; DR.

My one gripe with the Para 3 (both G-10 & LW... but especially LW) in general: Because of the way I generally hold a Para 3, when operating the compression lock while closing the blade one-handed, I default to just barely holding onto the knife with my fingertips when operating the lock. So when I flip the blade closed, it's not hard for me to actually lose my grip on the knife! I think it's a combo of the otherwise-stellar compression lock and the relatively short handle length that does it, but I drop these more than anything aside from balisongs! However, it's a wonderfully-engineered knife, otherwise, and this is my fourth Para 3. I *love* M4, and it's pretty hard to get Spyderco M4 at a decent price because it's always Sprint Run/secondary market stuff... So, thank you so much, BHQ & Spyderco, for making a regular-production M4 knife, finally!

Now, my one gripe with this particular version of the knife (as far as the ones I recieved):

I bought two (one for a friend, I'm not a scalper!), and both of them were very tight in the pivot. I really think Spyderco should focus on smooth opening/closing over zero blade play; with any of their FRN knives that run with either 0 or 1 washer, it almost always has to be set up with a little blade play to run smoothly. If you want that sweet drop-shut compression lock goodness, you're probably going to need to have at least a very slight bit of wiggleability. Now, I'm of the mind that a little blade play is not a problem. As long as it doesn't cause lockup or other operation issues, rattle, or keep coming out of adjustment, some play isn't hurting anything. I have a few of my knives set with some play because that's the way they operate most smoothly.

Now, I would feel bad for the average user's Para 3 LW... it seems a lot of people would never think to actually adjust the pivot, and will just sit there fuming while cycling the blade over and over. They'll probably have practically worn a groove into the washer before it frees up! The pivots come with plenty of threadlocker, so wherever the factory set these, they wouldn't go anywhere. Spyderco, Sal, Eric: tell the crew to set these up so the pivots aren't ultra-stiff, and you'll cut back on the whiny reviews.
Great knife, at a great price.

For the price this is a great knife, sharp and straight out of the box. M4 steel is a real performer. I used it during some training the other day and it cut through several seat belts, and still maintained a sharp edge. This is my first LT weight, I am very impressed. I would definitely buy again and recommend this product.

This is my fifth Para 3, M4 is a favorite steel. As per other reviews there is a centering issue - mine came OTB perfectly centered but too tight in the pivot. Adjusted the pivot to drop shut which made it off center and introduced side/side play, but I can live with that (minus 1 star). No lock stick, and this knife is by far the least expensive M4 folder on BHQ's website - a great value if you like non-stainless high speed tool steel.

Other of my compression-lock knives have had lock stick (not this one) and I've had success by removing the blade and using a 1500-grit diamond hone on the blade's lock ramp. Likely has warranty implications but I hate lock stick.

The m4 blade came quite sharp but after a good stropping the edge is scary. The price is right & the weight difference compared to a regular Para 3 makes this the perfect edc. CPM-M4 is a serious task to sharpen but the edge retention & toughness you get makes it worth it. Don't hesitate to pick this knife up, it feels just as solid in the hand as a regular Para 3 with g10 and liners.

This is my first lightweight and it compares well to the reg. Para 3. It actual feels lighter in hand and pocket; not just in name. Like the color. Downside is mine has a lot of lock stick. It is a pain to close at times. I have put sharpie/pencil on contact points to no avail. This is my third Blade HQ exclusive and my second one with QC issues. Seems Spyderco doesn't do so well with these. I could send it in to Sypderco, but what if they tell me it's defective and give me a voucher for another - there isn't another.

This is by far one of the best examples to be released in terms of a Para 3 LW. Itís fantastic fit and finish as you would expect. Like another pointed out, this M4 steel very closely resembles 20CV by how the grain looks. The biggest flaw and issue I have is the color. Blade HQ made a point to use Lightroom to adjust the colors shown in pictures on the website and on their Instagram. The knife appears to be vibrant and a light green. What you will actually receive is a muted teal that resembles chewed gum. The sticker on the box says ďJade GreenĒ but itís far from that. Still making my mind up on the color, but overall fantastic knife.

Shipped so fast!! I really dig the lightweight para 3. The handles are so comfy. It is my first M4 and for the price I had to grab it! Came very sharp and with a couple of swipes on the strop, it is hair popping sharp. Blade was slightly off-center, but easily fixed. Although the knife is beautiful I am really disappointed in blade centering and the action. Unfortunately it seems like a first day employee slapped this knife together because this isn't my first spyderco not centered, which was easy to fix in the past, but this is the first to have significant blade play left to right. You can plainly see with your eyes tolerances are off from the show side of the handle and on the clip side of the handle. My manix 2 LW was perfect so I'm not sure what happened here. A little disappointed with this purchase.

If you're a fan of the lw para 3, you cannot beat the price. I've owned 100+ knives and have been out of the knife life for quite some time but I decided to get this version on the Para3 in m4. As far as fit and finish, excellent. The blade secondary bevels are nice and even. A couple strops and this thing is by far the sharpest Spyderco I've owned from the factory, and the 2nd was a Manix in m4. I've live in a humid environment but do not fret the humidity. Use it. The only downer is I'm not completely sold on the teal scales. Almost looks like a toy knife, but don't be confused because this baby is sharp.

Itís solid, looks nice, and the blade is very nice and reflective, it almost looks like a more corrosion-resistant metal like S90V or 20CV. The only thing I was ďdisappointedĒ at was that the blade was not razor sharp, but there is a nice edge that I can easily hone to make it shave. Overall itís a very good knife that Iíll enjoy.

Great little knife but I really only purchased it for the m4 blade. Swapped out the s30v blade on my digicamo para 3 for the m4 blade.
Very fun knife to mod

This knife is great all around but but what I really enjoyed was customizing it, I rit dyed the handle a dark green and then forced a patina on the m4 blade. I'm very happy with the final result and it's now going in my pocket everyday.
Itís definitely mint green

Itís a great knife for 120 bucks. It is very light and arrived razor sharp. The blade is center. The compression lock is easy to use. It has all the things that you expect from a US made Spyderco.

This is a nice EDC for all the notes above. The color makes the knife unique as well, and gives you that exclusive feeling. The clip is very simple and functional. Canít go wrong with this knife.
So good it ruined knife shopping.

Do it.
Renewed my Love for Spyderco!

I just got this and It's not leaving my EDC for a WHILE! Shipped super sharp.

The action on this thing is like butter and the grip is super comfortable and the weight is comparable with my 535 Bugout.

I haven't beat it up yet and I wanna see how the M4 does, but, I'm diggin' it!

This is a fantastic knife.

Iíve never had a problem with a spyderco knife until this one. Really wanted to like it since the G10 Para 3 is my fav all time Spydie. But the one I received has a decent amount of slop in the detent and the blade moves around when itís closed. Itís is sharp though.

It's not made wrong!

I'm sure the finish will hold up fine as I am not in too humid a location.

I just got this knife in the mail, and Iím already starting to grow on this knife.
