The Summit Knife Co. Half Dome is a collaboration with knife maker Tommaso Rumici, bringing about this compact, lightweight folding knife. The wide-bellied blade is made from Bohler M390 with a stonewash finish. The handle is ergonomic and designed to facilitate multiple hand positions. Jimping lines the spine of the blade and along the titanium frame lock. A reversible deep carry wire clip allows left or right hand carry.
Features:
I like this knife, the only thing negative I could say is that it is smaller than the picture and description. It is probably just reading it carefully enough. The build quality is excellent and there is no blade play up and down or side to side. The knife is sharp and is well made, thanks to Fox Knives that actually made the knife. It is a wonderful little knife for all around use, EDC, Etc.
If you use your EDC knife for typical utility tasks this might be a good fit. Small, light, simple open design and M390 steel makes it easy to carry and maintain (sharpening may take a little more effort but not too hard and keeps an edge well). Handle shape and jimping provide solid grip in several positions. Blade shape, length, thickness and grind make it good for general utility tasks (opening /breaking down boxes, chopping / cutting food, light pruning, misc construction tasks). Shortened "reverse tanto" point makes it strong enough to pierce through material with a bit of force but also less "stabby", which helps avoids accidents while its open in your hand and you are working in a confined space or multi tasking (like folding the boxes you are breaking down). Back of "reverse tanto" point can be used in a pinch for light prying with low risk of harming the cutting edge (although better to avoid if possible). No annoyances or issues with the functionality of this knife. The price and chunky aesthetics could possibly be improved and the packaging is incredibly bulky.
