This CRKT knife is based on a custom Russ Kommer hunting knife he made for one of his good friends. Somehow through the years that knife became known as Grandpa's Favorite. Now you can get a knife that is nearly identical to Russ's custom knife from CRKT for a whole lot less.
Grandpa's Favorite skinner knife has a full-tang fixed blade of 12C27 Sandvik stainless steel with stainless steel bolsters, both mirror polished. The handle features traditional stag scales with brass pins.
The sheath Russ designed makes this knife even more unique with the extra pouch. Russ explains: "For me, a horizontal sheath makes getting around easier. It doesn't interfere with your rifle or back pack, and it's not always banging the bush plane or fouling the pack horse rope. I never carry a box of shells out of camp . . . usually just a magazine and the two cartridges in my sheath. The pockets will handle ammunition from .243 up to .338.
