Exoskeleton Knives EVO-K

The Exoskeleton Knives EVO-K is a bold evolution in folding karambit design, combining mechanical creativity with an addictively interactive experience. Designed by Jerry—the mind behind Reate’s EXO-K Karambit series—the EVO-K pushes the concept even further with a uniquely dynamic actuation system. A reversible pocket clip allows for both right- and left-side carry, keeping it adaptable before it even leaves your pocket.

What truly sets the EVO-K apart is its button-lock gravity mechanism paired with a pivoting handle frame, designed to work with natural motion rather than against it. Deployment begins with your index finger secured in the retention ring while your thumb presses the button to disengage the lock. This allows a portion of the handle to swivel freely out of the blade’s path.

From there, the blade can deploy naturally under its own weight once the path is fully cleared. Simply allowing gravity to take over lets it unfold in a smooth, controlled manner, without the need for any additional force or flicking. In fact, a more deliberate, relaxed motion helps ensure the handle fully moves out of the way for consistent deployment. As your grip naturally closes, it also brings the pivoting portion of the handle back into position, re-engaging the mechanism and locking the blade securely.

Closing the blade follows the same sequence in reverse: press the button, allow the handle to pivot open, and use gravity or a gentle motion to guide the blade closed before the handle returns to its locked position.

While this is the foundational method—press button, clear the handle, allow the blade to deploy, then re-secure the handle—there are a variety of techniques users may develop over time. Some are more controlled and safer than others, so it’s strongly recommended to begin practicing with a trainer blade before attempting live deployment. With familiarity, users can refine a method that feels both natural and safe for them.

There’s a learning curve at first—but that’s exactly where the EVO-K shines. Once the rhythm clicks, the knife becomes incredibly fidget-friendly, with a satisfying, repeatable flow that’s hard to put down. It’s a fresh take on the Karambit that doesn’t just look different—it moves different, redefining what a folding knife can feel like in hand.
