Description

Description

Spyderco's Dragonfly 2 is a second-generation knife that has undergone some stellar improvements thanks to the C.Q.I.-Constant Quality Improvement process employed by Spyderco. The Dragonfly2 maintains the same blade and handle geometry with leveraging points that make the Dragonfly cut and feel like a much larger knife.

This Dragonfly 2 features an H-1 stainless steel blade that will not rust! The blade is hollow ground with jimping at the choil and the spine for better control and feel. The handle uses Spyderco's patented Bi-Directional Texturing on the fiberglass reinforced nylon (FRN) and has a reversible tip-up wire clip for superb carry characteristics. The Back Lock steel frame ensures a tight lock with solid performance.

The quality is good but the knife is just really small.

Love the knife, and edge out of box was Spyderco standard. I always like to have a knife on me, so I bought this to take to the beach (because I refuse to take my pricy Benchmades within 5 miles of saltwater) and I figured I wouldn't have to worry about it rusting. Clipped it to the bathing suit pocket and went in the water. When I came out I checked it and the H in H1 had rusted over. I bought the knife specifically because I wouldn't have to worry about things like that. It completely defeats the purpose of the knife in my eyes. Also, the screw holding the pocket clip to the handle scale constantly comes loose. It's not an EDC knife for me anymore, it now just sits in my tacklebox.
Great knife

First off, the blade looks very cool. The swedge on top really makes it look cool as well as help it's piercing ability. Spyderco's wire clip is awesome. The knife doesn't move around in my pocket at all, the clip is very strong, and the knife weighs practically nothing. Comes hair-shaving sharp. I broke down boxes a lot with it, and I'll say that it loses its razor edge rather quickly, but it held a good working edge for a long time. Will still cut cardboard easily without resharpening. Overall it's an excellent knife and a must have. It's also nice to be able to rinse it with water, shake it off and not have to worry about any of it rusting.

I should also mention that even though this knife is small, you can get a full 4 finger kung fu grip on it, thanks to the generous finger choil. Tons of control while holding this knife.

This was my first Spyderco purchase and I am extremely pleased with it. I wanted a smaller knife to carry at work as I really didn't need to be pulling out a large blade in an office environment to open an envelope or a box.

The H1 steel wasn't a huge factor in my choosing this particular Dragonfly, however I am glad I got it. I never have to worry about exposure to water (and yes, this knife has survived a trip to the washing machine!).

The action was a little tight at first, however after opening and closing it hundreds of times, one-handed operation is easily accomplished.

If you are looking for a solid, smaller EDC knife, the Spyderco Dragonfly is a great choice!

I'm giving it a 5 because:

I live in front of the beach in Puerto Rico. When going to the beach I take this small pocket knife with me as the blade is completely rust proof, it has no internal liners that can rust and fits perfectly in my swimming trunks. It's lightweight and unobtrusive. When in town I carry a Slisz Bowie or a ZT 0450. Both have tougher and harder blades. But if I'm going fishing, boating, to the beach or river I'll take the dragonfly salt with H1 steel because it'll take the abuse. I've gutted fish, cut fishing lines, etc with it. Very easy to sharpen in Spyderco Sharpmaker. If you need a small rust proof, lightweight knife this one is great!.
