Spyderco's Dragonfly 2 is a second-generation knife that has undergone some stellar improvements thanks to the C.Q.I.-Constant Quality Improvement process employed by Spyderco. The Dragonfly2 maintains the same blade and handle geometry with leveraging points that make the Dragonfly cut and feel like a much larger knife.
This Dragonfly 2 features an H-1 stainless steel blade that will not rust! The blade is hollow ground with jimping at the choil and the spine for better control and feel. The handle uses Spyderco's patented Bi-Directional Texturing on the fiberglass reinforced nylon (FRN) and has a reversible tip-up wire clip for superb carry characteristics. The Back Lock steel frame ensures a tight lock with solid performance.
Customer Reviews
Love this little guy!
I love this knife and will 100% get more Dragonflies when they're available.
I will note that my knife has uncoated hardware, but the hardware in the posted picture is all black, must be a new improvement.
This knife is made not to corrode. So if you're going to a beach, salt lake, fishing or just rainy weather this will do the job and not take any worse for the wear.
I love the yellow, catches the eye(making easy to spot), isn't tacticool, and also a U of Michigan fan so it all works out.
Spydie-hole is my favorite way to open a knife, presumably if you're looking at the salt version you're worried about water, which would also make certain knives hard to open one handed. Spydie-hole works every time.
Again there are other salt models, but I went for this one because of the smaller size. Going around in swim trunks I wouldn't really want a big knife on me anyway.
Highly recommend.
My only two complaints are: it’s not made in golden, and it is really wide relative to its size when it’s shut.
Likes: Everything
Dislikes: Nothing
Nitpicks: I wish the pocket clip was a scoach closer to the pomel for a slightly deeper carry. Thats all I got...
Favorite use: Perfect pairing to a Cold Steel Spartan.
Regarding "too small-too large" polemic; if the knife were larger one might wonder if it could be smaller, as is, hard to imagine smaller.
I should also mention that even though this knife is small, you can get a full 4 finger kung fu grip on it, thanks to the generous finger choil. Tons of control while holding this knife.
The H1 steel wasn't a huge factor in my choosing this particular Dragonfly, however I am glad I got it. I never have to worry about exposure to water (and yes, this knife has survived a trip to the washing machine!).
The action was a little tight at first, however after opening and closing it hundreds of times, one-handed operation is easily accomplished.
If you are looking for a solid, smaller EDC knife, the Spyderco Dragonfly is a great choice!
I live in front of the beach in Puerto Rico. When going to the beach I take this small pocket knife with me as the blade is completely rust proof, it has no internal liners that can rust and fits perfectly in my swimming trunks. It's lightweight and unobtrusive. When in town I carry a Slisz Bowie or a ZT 0450. Both have tougher and harder blades. But if I'm going fishing, boating, to the beach or river I'll take the dragonfly salt with H1 steel because it'll take the abuse. I've gutted fish, cut fishing lines, etc with it. Very easy to sharpen in Spyderco Sharpmaker. If you need a small rust proof, lightweight knife this one is great!.
