The Silent Hero is an Anton Du Plessis designed fixed blade that is very versatile, making it an ideal knife for bushcraft, survival, and tactical purposes. It's not so large that it can only be used to chop, but is also sized to complete smaller tasks.

Built in TOPS Knives fashion, the Silent Hero has a 1095 steel blade with a "black river wash" finish, which has a darkened finish along the edge where the blade has been heat treated. The handle is fitted with Rocky Mountain Tread pattern linen Micarta scales for an uncompromising all-weather grip. Two lanyard holes, one in the handle along with another in the finger guard, give the user the option to add a safety cord or for lashing to a spear when the situation warrants it. The black leather sheath is durable and looks great paired with this knife. The Silent Hero is held in place with a single snap loop that curls around the finger guard.

The Silent Hero was designed by Anton Du Plessis, who is the Chief of Operations for the Specialized Interdiction Unit of the Silent Heroes Foundation. His task is to combat the poaching crisis in South Africa. This knife has to be durable, versatile, and able to fill Antonís needs in the field, which affected the design of the blade and the handle. It will definitely hold up to hard use. It is the intention at TOPS to ensure that a portion of all sales of this knife are used to help the Silent Heroes Foundation in their endeavors. Searched diligently to find and initially very happy with the tool. Besides the handles being a little thin for my hands, it is a beauty. Length, weight, materials, lanyard hole setup, sharpness, and everything screamed this is a bushcraft legend.
On second or third time I carried, found myself using it to clear greenbriar from one of our local hiking/biking trails. After clearing about a mile, discovered a small chip in the blade ~3 inches from the tip. It is about a 2mm chip and not once did I connect with stone, ground, or anything other than fibrous greenbriar. Concerned the heat treatment was botched and the blade edge is to brittle for serious use. Fearful to rely on this guy fully.
Perfect hiking knife.

This knife can be lashed to make a spear with a slit in the guard and lanyard hole. Or used to make a hand guard for holding on to. This is a must have knife if you only choose one Tops knife.
