Blade HQ Knife Roll Nylon Carry Case - Black

Before buying this knife roll, I spent so much time shopping around and trying to qualify a proper storage solution for my knife collection. Everything else seemed too small, too expensive, and too poorly designed. I love the overall design: the clip closure, the carry handle, the full-size pockets with a nylon-reinforced lip, and see-through windows. I discovered I like the green color better because of how much the knives contrast and present. The black--especially if you have a lot of black knives--seems to prevent easy identification. The green (or blue), however, really seem to help the knives stand out a bit more. So far, the quality has been superb. I've bought 4 more and I can't wait to grab another one once they come back in stock. They seem to make a perfect gift right now (Christmas time), but all the colors are sold out. I'll just have to wait for now, but they're definitely worth it.

I have one of the older style rolls, w/o the nylon strip across the top of the clear plastic pocket, and recently purchased two more of this newer version. As an earlier commenter suggested (and many thanks to him), that was the only real problem with the roll: the entirely clear plastic pockets weren't sturdy enough to stand up to repeated shearing from tight pocket clips, so the knives had to just be placed in the pockets lest the plastic tear. Not a huge drawback, but this new design really makes this knife roll top-of-the-line: it's sturdy, rolls up small, you can see which knives are where, and slimmer knives can be doubled and even tripled I the pouches. For example, I have one roll entirely dedicated (and two knives away from be full) to my Microtech OTFs. The pockets are wide enough to comfortably accommodate two Ultratechs or UTX-85, or three UTX-70s. I suggest placing a knotted strand of paracord or some other buffer in the pouch between the knives to avoid scratching them against each other when taking then in or out. Also, be a bit careful folding the roll over on itself any time knives are clipped into pockets on opposite facing segments of the roll. In other words, dont scratch the clip of one knife on the clip of another when rolling up. It's easy to avoid as long as you're gentle, which you should be if you have knives worth storing in a high-quality knife roll. This storage roll is one of my favorite BladeHQ products. Not only is it sturdy and well-designed overall, its about half the price (or less) than anything comparable from "name brand" companies, such as a well-known couple that both have logos depicting arthropods, and a shared penchant for charging a bit more than their admittedly well-made products probably ought to cost. There's none of that with this knife roll--it would be reasonably priced at double the current approx. $14 price. So buy two or three while they're in-stock, because it's amazing how fast they fill up...

This case is amazing for the price. And I love the Bladehq quote printed on it. It works great as a carry case. When I take it home I hang it from my closet door with all my knives on display. I gave it four stars for a few reasons. One being that the material it's made of (nylon I believe) is very durable. Almost so durable I'm afraid it will put wear or scratches on my more expensive knives by taking them in and out. However this is not a fact.. just a concern. Also I wish it came with some clips or something to hang it from a door. I made my own out of wire coat hangers so.. no big deal. The last reason is that you can buy a harbor freight (pelican style) case for 30 bucks. I still think this is the best option for the money. Will report back if it does induce wear on my knives. Great product Bladehq! Love it. Ive only had this case for about 2 weeks. Well see if it wears in well!

This is a fantastic case, especially since it says "Blade HQ" on it. :-) However, the one drawback is that you can't actually clip your knives in place over the clear windows or you'll scratch the plastic. Once or twice, it's no big deal, but repeatedly store your knives in there with the clip over the plastic and you'll end up with view windows that will be hard to see through. One more thing that would really make this bag a true winner would be a small zipper pocket on the outer flap that you could put spare clips in, or a Torx screwdriver, or a small sharpener, or any other small accessories that you might want to carry with your knives. Overall I am very please with this product, and will most likely buy another one, but with just a the small addition of an outer zipper pocket this product could be truly superb.
