The Spyderco Ball Bearing Lock, though perhaps not exactly a Crossbar lock, functions on the same principle: it uses a spring to wedge a piece of metal between the blade tang and the handle.
Where it differs from the original Crossbar lock, the AXIS Lock, is primarily in its employment of a coil spring instead of omega springs and the use of a ball bearing instead of a bar.
The Ball Bearing lock is strong and eye-catching. It comes in two varieties: a large ball or a small ball inside a cage with grip pads. The former style is rare but still comes around every so often, but the latter style is readily available on the Manix family of knives.
