Spyderco Para 3 Compression Lock Knife Black G-10 (3" Black) C223GPBK

This knife is popular for a reason. It’s got style, functionality, and fantastic action. It’s one of my favorites to use and fidget with, although not necessarily my absolute favorite pocket carry as the thumb hole can be a bit obtrusive (but still more carry-friendly than the PM2, in my opinion). Every knife person should own either a PM2 or Para 3–they’re just good for the soul—and if you only need a 3” blade, I’d say the Para 3 is the better carry.

The build quality and feel is super.

I wanted a Spyderco but wasn't sure which one I wanted for my first one. After doing some research, it seemed like the Para 3 would be a good start. And I couldn't have been more correct. This knife is AWESOME! Looks great with the murdered out look, compression lock works like a dream, slices like a boss. Feels great in my hand. Easy to manipulate one handed. It's almost hard to even justify buying any other Spyderco knives after getting this one (But I will get more for sure). Homerun of a blade.

Let me tell you, thing is a beauty. Action is smooth and on point, grip and ergos make easy peasy handling. bomb. knife. recommend to everyone. must have lynch clip to complete beautification.

I Love the all black it looks so good and it is really fun to open. This is my first Compression Lock knife and it's a very clever and safe way of closing the knife because your fingers don't have to get in the way of the blade when it closes, not a huge issue for me but I know it can be for some people. The knife also feels very comfortable in the hand and it feels like it wants to just go to work. I can see why this knife has been praised as one of the best EDC knives. If you are thinking about this knife as your next I'd say to go for it.

I bought this Para 3 after seeing Peter McKinnon with one on YouTube. It was actually one of my more expensive knives at the time, but it ended up being the gateway drug to a few other even more expensive purchases. This is a great knife all around, and the compression lock is great for confident one handed closing. It’s well built in every way, and I’ve been able to put a nice sharp edge on it that will push cut paper, even though I’m still working on my sharpening game. On the downside, I find it a little small for my hand when I not choked up on the choil, so I think I may have been better off with a PM2. I’ll have to pick one up and see.

Oh my god I love the compression lock. Never had a spyderco before this and I love it. I was a fool and messed with the tension rough out of the box rather than getting used to it. My favorite part is how there are 8 different ways I can deploy the knife in either hand in either orientation. Swapped out for a deep carry pocket clip though. Great edge and outstanding fit and finish. I play with it all day at my desk. A little small for field use and the blade shape wouldn't be my top choice. Still one of my favorite carries.

Bought this as a gift for myself for landing a new job. From the feel in my hand, to the weight, to the overall sexy look of the black on black paired with a bronze ano Lynch clip. It was definitely a great purchase. First Spyderco I own and I am loving it in my pocket

So I'm a fan of the PM2 but when I got this PM3 in my hand.... Well what an amazing knife Spyderco!!! This smaller version of the PM2 fits the bill of anything you get anything you need done and tough enough to handle any tasks you throw at it! Spyderco what an amazing knife!!! Awesome BladeHQ 👍🏼

What can I say that hasn't been said already ? This will always be one of the best. Super sharp, awesome blade steel, perfect detent, drop shutty after break in, G10.. Just get a lynchNW clip and your set. A+

In the knife world you have two choices materials and design. Some companies focus on design and leave you wanting for nicer steels or better handle materials, some use some of the nicest materials but leave the design feeling uninspired or so over the top it doesn't feel like your knife. Spyderco really hit the mark for me with the para 3 series. The design hits my marks for what I love in a knife and doesn't leave me wanting for nicer steel even in the base model.

All I can say it is awsome.

When I purchased this knife I was blown away by the fit and finish as well as how well executed Spyderco’s compression lock is. Unfortunately for me I lost this knife on a hike late last year and I’m working up the funds to purchase another. If you have any doubt look no further this thing is a beast!

I carry a Para 3 most days. It’s light weight and dose not take up much pocket space. It came razor sharp right out of the box. The size of the Para 3 is also not to intimidating to most. I also recommend picking up a Lynch deep carry clip as well for it as it sits a little high in the pocket normally.

This little knife is a perfect EDC! It's not too big, but it's also not too small. It's great for just about anything. Very smooth very sharp right out of the box. I've had for almost 4 months now, and it still feels as sharp as it was out of the box. If you're reading this review and thinking about getting it, DO IT! You won't regret it!

I carry this knife very frequently and love it with all my heart. The compression lock is probably my favorite part. Definitely recommend it!

Received my para 3 today and I can say without a doubt that it will be in my pocket everyday. The action is great and smooth wasn’t totally sure if I was going to like the compression lock but it’s awesome for single hand use.

This knife is beautiful. The wifey wants one now. So do I! Blade hq had it engraved next day and shipped the day after. Also, this was 1 of 5 engraved knifes purchased on my order. Truely Amazed. This knife is light, action is so smooth and black coating on blade is just outstanding.

Hasn’t left my pocket in over a year, don’t see any reason that will change in the near future.

If you want the perfect EDC look no further. I've owned benchmade, ZT and spyderco alike, and this is my go to every day. tighter and more reliable build quality than benchmade, and a more reasonable price than ZT. I prefer it over my Paramilitary 2, even. Get it blacked out if you dont want it to stand out in the pocket.

At first I was not sure I'd like it. I carry knives mostly for protection and cutting boxes(exciting right?) and the clip felt a bit clunky and I wasnt sure the plastic texture would be enough. However, pretty soon I realized that the handle design is easy to keep control of regardless of texture. The texture is nice though. My favorite parts of this knife are the cut of the blade(amazing) and the clip. Once I realized how the clip can be used to easily "draw the knife"...it really grew on me. I love it.

Wanted a paramilitary but I like the kinda smaller knives for my daily carry. This one fit perfectly! It has been through a decent amount of work and the black has also held up a lot better than expected! The finger choil is a great part of the knife that adds a lot more use to it! Love it!

The para 3 looks really cool all blacked out, and the fact that it's basically just a smaller pm2 is amazing. It's hard to beat this knife in terms of a functional EDC.

Had a PM2 for years working in a live music setting and it worked flawlessly. Unfortunately I sold out and became a corporate desk jockey and the first time I pulled my PM2 out a co worker commented on how large the knife was. I immediately looked for a smaller Spyderco alternative and was pleasantly surprised when I saw the Para 3. Solid knife for EDC in a smaller package. I do suggest a deep carry clip (Lynch NW).

I love my Para 3! This is my favorite EDC out of my knife collection. The blade is a prefect size for normal everyday use and doesn't draw unwanted attention. The blade came razor sharp and opens and closes smoothly with one hand. The combination of the finger choil at the base of the blade and the ergonomics of the handle make it a perfect fit for my large hands. I cannot recommend the Para 3 enough!

I am in love with this knife, I have always carried spyderco and liked them but this knife is my all time favorite! I bought a lynch clip for it and it is now my personal edc knife. I love the compression lock and the size is perfect spyderco nailed it with this knife!!

I own almost 10 spydercos, and when this arrived today I was in heaven. Right out of the box the opening is smooth as silk. The compression lock is perfect, and the blacked out S30V is crisp. My only wish is that I would have bought this knife month's ago.

I bought this knife to replace my para2 while it was off to Spyderco warranty. I'm just going to list some pros and cons. These are also just my opinions and solely based on the knife I received. Pros: ·good fit and finish ·lockup is tight ·fits large hands well ·knife came sharp ·even grinds on both sides ·grippy g10 (not too grippy) Cons: ·tip up carries too high ·unneeded lanyard hole So in short the knife I received was all in all perfect as far as edge and fit and finish. I researched the knife before purchasing and ordered a deep carry clip. So I will not be knocking the knife for the cons as everyone should know these before buying it. I would recommend the knife.

This is literally the best edc knife on the market today. great weight, great grip, and great open and closing action. Well worth the price.

Perfect knife for those that want a smaller knife to carry everyday. Out of the box this knife is super smooth. Whether you use the thumb hole to open or a fun flick of your (middle) finger. Fits in hand as if it was molded to my own. Great EDC knife. Downsides: Do to blade design knife/sypderco hole opener, the life is slightly wider than I prefer when closed. The actual cutting surface of the blade smaller that the blade looks, due to the choke up grip area (which is nice to have though). I would prefer if it came with a deep pocket carry clip because the standard clip leaves about an inch of the knife exposed. With all of this, I would rebuy this knife in a heartbeat.

Perfect size for EDC, came razor sharp and locks up solid. Can't recommend the Para 3 enough, if you love the Paramilitary 2 you'll love the Para 3.

Absolutely stellar knife! Perfect size for everyday carry even when not clipped to your pocket. In fact, mine is usually down in the pocket. Holds edge great, G10 is grippy, super smooth action and overall my favorite knife i own.

I always wanted a paramilitary 2 but because of where I live I can’t carry anything above 3 inches, once the para 3 came around my prayers have been answered.

One of my favorite knives now, as expected from Spyderco. It’s sharp as heck. Some reviews said that it sits too high in the pocket, but you could just put the pocket clip on the other side for a tip down carry and voila problem solved.

Snagged this as my first EDC blade after much research and this is a phenomenal knife! A great size for one handed use. Perfect weight!

Great ergos, great action. Love all black looks. Very flickable out of the box. The only con for me is the pocket clip - replacement for deep cary is needed and ergonomics for standard clip are not good for me.

Spyderco does a great job ensuring their knives are built the way they should be. The P3 is built to this same high standard. Light weight and small in pocket, yet feels as good as a PM2 while in use. The compression lock is an excellent mechanism to open and close the blade without putting your fingers in harms way. The G-10 scales are solid, although the texture is rough enough to wear out pants pockets if the clip is to tight. My only real complaint is the high ride pocket clip. Spending an extra 20 bucks on an aftermarket deep carry clip didn't stop me from buying, I just think a knife at this price point should come with a better designed clip.

It's an all around solid knife, but the PM2 does just about everything better. Basically, if you want a PM2, but require/prefer a smaller blade, get a para 3.

I love the PM2, the Caly 3, Native 5, and Manix 2. This knife's proportions seem off and the edge/blade seems disproportionate to the handle. The knife is extremely well made, it's just not for me.

This knife is just right! I love that spyderco has a smaller version of the Para 2. From the scales to the lock up and the full flat grind, I am just in love. Only 4 stars because it doesn't have a deep carry pocket clip.

Love this thing. Blade centering blade sharpness and locking mechanism are flawless as expected. Only odd part is they used a pin instead of a Torx screw just above the compression lock, hopefully that won't make the knife hard to take apart when needed. Also one of the backspacer pillars came silver instead of blacked out like the rest of the hardware, kind of doesn't make sense for the look of the knife. Overall it still kicks ass.

Great EDC knife! Price point is spot on for the quality you get. Only thing I had to do was get a deep carry clip, but that was just because I felt that it rode to high in my pocket. Would highly recommend this knife for someone looking for a smaller EDC knife!

Great sized knife for EDC. I have the Para 2 as well and I like them both. But some days I don't want to carry a larger knife. The Para 3 is almost too small for my hand but with the added finger choil it makes slicing and cutting tasks very comfortable. My only issue is that since it's a full flat grind, leaf shaped blade I try to avoid too much abuse to avoid breaking the tip. But the grind is what makes it such a great slicer. I carry mine with the Wisemen Company Fang which puts a wave opener on the para, I just wish Spyderco would make a para model with the wave from the factory.
