Description:
The Spyderco Para 3 made a name for itself as one of the best EDC knives out there, and the Para 3 Lightweight made it even better! It is a joy to operate, and thanks to the bi-directional texturing of its FRN handle, it is lighter and grippier than ever. Instead of the classic spoon clip, Spyderco employed a wire clip that is gentler on your pocket, carries much deeper, and further reduces the weight. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a better ultra-light folder anywhere, so slip this guy into your pocket and learn what it means to EDC with ease!
If you like this model, we guarantee you'll enjoy our other Spyderco Para 3 folding knife variations. We offer a range of different handles, blade finishes, and blade steels.
I have been holding off purchasing the lightweight version of this classic Spyderco because I don’t usually like FRN handles. I have a maxamet para 3 that I carry daily but it’s been very hot and I find myself sweat soaked much of the day and the maxamet was showing specks of rust starting to show up. I decided a s90v stainless option would be worth trying. Man I’m glad I did. This thing is a dream to carry and feels awesome in hand. For once I think I may actually prefer the lightweight in this knife. It’s perfectly rigid and seems to operate perfectly, even during high pressure cuts on carpet and heavy gauge cardboard. The handle locks right in my hand and the bidirectional texture keeps it there even with sweaty hands. Spyderco knocked it out of the park with this one.
My knife arrived yesterday and I'm very impressed. The blade is very sharp and the teal scales look and feel great. I have no problem with FRN. I've always liked the wire clips and this one fits right into my palm with no hot spots. The detent is perfect. Right out of the box, my first reverse flick launched it with a pleasing thwack. Easy but crisp. Not at all sloppy. I've never been impressed with Spyderco compression locks. They have ranged anywhere from OK to bad and required a lot of break in and sore fingertips. The compression lock on this one is a dream. Nudge it to the side and the blade drops clean. No wiggle or little wrist snap needed. With a proven design and S90V steel, you can't beat it at this price.
This is my first lightweight model from spyderco and I have to say I'm impressed. The FRN handles feel robust and don't flex despite their ultra lightweight. This knife is one of the cheapest ways to get into some s90v so that is a great plus. The action is great but it did take a few days of fidgeting to break in. While I love teal, I was concerned that this knife would look girly in person. In my opinion, it does not. The color is ever so unique and is slightly different from the teal plastic you are used to seeing on girl glocks and pepper spray etc. This color would go great with some shipwrecked copper accents. Overall, This knife is far better than I thought it would be and I would recommend to anyone who wants to get their hands on a nice lightweight knife and is a great way to get some supersteel at a relatively low price.
