Description
This next generation Spyderco Para-Military knife features a number of inspiring changes. The revised handle has a thinner profile at the end to improve the ergonomics and the ambidextrous four-way reversible pocket clip rests deeper in the pocket as well. The blade has an elongated profile, with an increased cutting edge, finger choil and thumb ramp. Implementation of a new Bushing Pivot System generates fluid action and more consistent manufacturing tolerances. The Para-Military still has the solid, confidence inspiring Compression Lock on the handle spine. Lastly, the size of the lanyard hole has been generously increased, giving the user more carry options. This all results in more than just change for the sake of change, it's a real improvement on an already great knife.
This Para-Military 2 knife has a black DLC finished CPM-S30V stainless steel flat ground blade with a plain cutting edge. The handle scales are textured G-10 for impressive strength and grip. The hardware on this model is tactical black.
Customer Reviews
Write a review for this itemSpyderco's DLC finish is as tough as they come and this is one stealthy looking PM2.
et ça commence à faire long!!
I find the knife unreasonably poky for an EDC. I don't see why you would require something that looks stab-happy when many other knives (like the Delica) offer a sharp tip, but isn't quite a needle point. The bad on this is that it can very easily break off. That's what threw me off the most considering I do not abuse my blades.
The only other point I'd mention, is the back end of the handle is very blocky, and while I like it better than the Para 3, it sticks out more than the Manix 2 upon entering the pocket.
Overall, you are getting a US made super slicer, with great ergos, a good steel, and it's made at a great price. However, if the Manix 2 had skeletonized liners, I'd recommend it over the PM2 for price, ergos, and feeling in the pocket. The Endura 4 is also a great option for less.
I have smaller hands , but the handle feels nice in hand. The blade is a smidge long but - Deal with it, It's an awesome knife.
Oh, and BladeHQ has the best support ever!
Full flat grind, S30V (great steel), flow through handle, sturdy and easy lock, 4 - way position clip, what more do you want? Oh, and the Spyder-hole.
The compression lock is exceptional and I love it, but I found that it does have a complexity. With the locking lug being ramped, the harder you open the knife the farther up the ramp the lock bar goes. This can cause the disengagement of the lock to seem a little inconsistent, sometimes being very light and other times being a little stuck and taking more effort that normal. I don't consider this to be an issue but it does have more going on than most lock designs. I use a drop of Milcomm TW25B grease on the ramp and it gives it a feel that I am really happy with. The black blade coating is proving to be the strongest of any of my knives and most are coated. There is a slight bit of texture to the DLC and I can feel it drag a touch in some cuts.
I definitely recommend buying it, I am now trying to decide which 2nd Paramilitary 2 to buy that will compliment my all-black one.
Cons: Very thin at the tip, you need to be careful to not snap your tip off.
