The Paramilitary 2 as we know it today is the second iteration of the old Para Military, a model designed by Spyderco as a more compact and accessible version of their Military model. But if you're looking for something even more compact, the Para 3 might be the knife for you!
The knife itself is obviously a classic that every knife enthusiast should own or at least try. The fact that it's a left handed version is great, especially with the compression lock. I am so happy with it and it will stay on my every day.
Thanks to Spyderco for producing this awesome knife in the left hand configuration. Surely if they did this with other compression lock knives like the Shaman they would sell. Cheers!
After decades of changing the clips of right-handed knives and pretending they were left handed, I decided to splurge and buy an actual left-hand built pocket knife. Obviously, the PM2 is a great knife and well known in the EDC community. The left hand version is still great and made for left handers. It's quick and easy to operate the compression lock and your (left) hand never has to get the path of the blade to open or close the knife. Very happy with the knife overall.
Great knife for lefties.
This has been my daily for a little bit over a year now. As a southpaw I have always wanted a the easy one handed operation that people get with these knifes, so when this popped up on my radar I immediately jumped on it. This knife does everything I ask of it well. Only other knife that regularly gets in my pocket over it is my Leatherman if I know the pliers are going to be needed that day, and even then I don't want to give it up so usually just carry both. My only negative I could say is after I moved the pocket clip where I needed it the screws kept backing out, and it only kept happening more quickly until I put some thread locker on them. No issue for me as it want it permanently where it is, but if you're one who moves their pocket clip around might be something to consider.
I collect knives. Not knives that sit in a gun safe. I prefer knives I'll carry and use. I just love owning different knives. I've always been turned off by Spyderco's strange looks, and I've always been a Benchmade fan. I still love Benchmade. But, recently, I've branched out and bought a few new brands and been very pleased. This Spyderco is unbelievable and may be one of my favorite knives. The action is amazing. It's SO fidgety. I sit around flicking it open and closed constantly. It's very comfortable to carry. It's as sharp as any knife I've ever owned, right out of the box. And it's built like a tank. BUT, my favorite feature? Being left handed, I've adapted to a right handed world. I understand I'm in the minority and produts aren't usually made for me. But, when I saw this LH version of the PM2, I ordered it. What a game changer. What I used to accept, I now find myself wishing all knives had a left handed option. This is so easy to function with no issues, and it's so comfortable. If you are in the market for a great knife, the PM2 is one of the best I've ever tried. And if you are left handed, buy this one now. It's amazing.
I ordered the Spyderco Paramilitary 2 with a custom engraving, knowing that the site said it would take extra time for this. But--I got the knife in four days--which included a weekend! That is phenomenal customer service. Plus, the knife is excellent. The engraving looks great. The finish on the knife shows the fine craftsmanship it is and I couldn't be more pleased. Great job BladeHQ--I will be using you in the future.
I also own the para 3 lightweight with the compression lock.I use my thumb for one hand op and that works well. However, with the left handed paramilitary 2 it is much more comfortable using my forefinger to open the lock for closing. I wish Spyderco would make more lefties, I would eat them up.
I have wanted a PM2 for a while now and was so glad to have discovered a left-handed option. Knife was perfectly centered and razor sharp out of the box. I am hoping that Spyderco continues to increase its inventory of left-handed knives.
Great lock with no blade play! Did not come as sharp as my Spyderco Ladybug, but the blade is dead centered. Glad to have a left handed option!
i have been scared to get a pm2 for the longest time because of the right hand dominant compression lock but this left handed model is perfect. there not much left to say about this knife. just buy it
What else is there to say? Everything you expect from Spyderco, with a little southpaw love.
Absolutely awesome. Even the spider on the blade has been mirrored so that it’s now on the front side of the blade for lefties. Only Small bummer is you can’t get the other variations of the PM2 in lefty. Maybe Blade HQ will get an exclusive run for lefties...
Great knife! hope Spyderco will make lefty versions of their other compression locks and future ones. But as a lefty, definitely love this knife.
This knife is great for us south paws who are often overlooked not just by the knife industry, but by pretty much all industries. I love the ease of use, how easy it is to open with one hand. It's definitely my EDC knife and hardly leaves my side unless it's in my hand. Would like to see a left handed shaman in the future.
This was my first purchase of a quality knife. After much debate I was not disappointed with my decision. The ergos, fit and finish, blade centering are spot on. The fact that it is a Lefty makes it absolutely perfect as my EDC knife. The bad part is that now all I search for are lefty knives and that's all I will buy and they are few and far between. I've got the bug and the next step is a lefty Sebenza. This knife is hair popping sharp out of the box. I am a custom furniture maker and I use my knives every single day. Edge retention on the S30v seems to hold true so far, good quality steel seems to make all the difference. Blade hq shipped fast and my order arrived in 5 days to east coast. Now if I can just find some custom scales for a lefty PM2....
The lefty PM2 is by far the best knife I’ve owned to date. G-10 handles, the compression lock, & the blade steel is a recipe for one of the best knives ever engineered. Now if Spyderco would make a lefty Para 3 with the black blade I’d be in knife heaven.
If you are left handed, this is a must have! It may even have cured my Spyderco addiction.
The paramilitary 2 has reached legendary status. No one can argue that. It is probably the most reviewed knife in the world. But to me, as a leftie, it has always been infamous because the compression lock is just bizarre to operate with your left hand. Until now! Thank you Spyderco for paying attention to the 10% of the world who is left handed. Thats almost 1 billion people! I hope more companies do the same! The paramilitary 2 is an exact mirrored opposite of the standard paramilitary 2. Same great handle, outstanding weight, blade shape, and cutting performance. Thanks again Spyderco!
