Description

Description

This limited edition Paramilitary 2 has a 52100 steel blade with a satin finish and partially serrated cutting edge. It comes outfitted with peel ply carbon fiber scales for impressive strength and grip.

The Spyderco Paramilitary 2 features a number of inspiring revisions. An updated handle has a thinner profile at the end to improve the ergonomics and the ambidextrous four-way reversible pocket clip rests deeper in the pocket as well. The blade has an elongated profile, with an increased cutting edge, finger choil and thumb ramp.

Implementation of a new Bushing Pivot System generates fluid action and more consistent manufacturing tolerances. The Paramilitary still has the solid, confidence inspiring Compression Lock on the handle spine. Lastly, the size of the lanyard hole has been generously increased, giving the user more carry options. This all results in more than just change for the sake of change, it's a real improvement on an already great knife.

Out of box this knife was dull, I mean butter knufe dull, ripping paper, wouldn't shave arm hair, but the serrated portion was insanely sharp. This is my 2nd Paramilitay 2 and my first knife in 52100 steel. So because of the dullness of the knife y'all get my sharpening notes as well as my take on the partially serrated version of the Paramilitay 2.

Sharpening notes:
I'm unsure of the Rockwell hardness of the 52100 blade but this blade is HARD. Harder and more wear resistant than D2 and S110v. It took over an hour to sharpen with my edge pro apex. The grain isn't as fine as S110v but it still takes a wicked edge. Hair popping sharp and will slice notebook paper into thin ribbons with no tearing or snagging. Bring a beer though because you'll be at your work bench a while getting it there.

Knife Review:
I'm not sure if the knife was used or it just slipped through the cracks at Spyderco. I'm willing to give them a pass because I've owned many Spyderco knives and they've all been sharp out of box except this one. Fit and finish are 2nd to none. Perfect blade centering, perfect adjustment on the pivot screw, zero blade play. The carbon fiber handle scales are perfect. Much more traction than the G10 scales on my S110v Paramilitary 2. I know I'm not a real knife guy because I enjoy a partially serrated blade now and again, but it comes in handy for rope, chord, fingernails, stripping wire, etc. Spyderco serations stay sharp forever anyhow, so that portion I'm not super worried about it. When the time comes I'll just ship in on back to Spyderco and have them work their magic. All and all I really do love the Paramilitary 2 and this version is a great upgrade over the base model. Make sure you put some oil on the blade, it's ball bearing steel, it will rust.

Final thoughts:
Buy one, you won't be disappointed. I'm giving it a five star review even though it was dull out of box.
Plus it comes with a free dragonfly.
Buy this while it lasts!!!

First off, half serrated knives get a bad rep from those cheap junky knives we all used to buy growing up. The serattions on this are incredibly useful. Allow me to cut so many more things quicker during a day at work. I work on fire alarm systems primarily, this knife is a dream peeling back wire with it's crazy sharp point. It makes quick work of any task. The carbon fiber makes it very light in your hand and immensely grippy! I am in love with the 52100, it seemingly blows other carbon steels away.

Plus you get a free dragonfly. I bought 2 of these already.

If it means anything to anyone, I browse this site multiple times a day. I spend thousands each year on knives. And this, to date, is absolutely my favorite knife. Paramilitary 2s are excellent and everyone should own 1. But the 52100 and carbon fiber makes this an 11/10. Plus, again, you get a free dragonfly. Buy this now, it can't last long.
5 stars if the Pm2 was a full straight edge!!
